Whats up Hardforum? I've been lurking around this forum for a while and I am nearing a decision on which display to buy. My 1905FP is starting to look pretty dated compared to some of these new displays.

Uses: I am primarily using this monitor for web/graphic design, internet browsing, and other general applications, but not so much for gaming.

Some of my options:

Samsung 206BW - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001095
Acer AL2051W - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009105
Viewsonic VX2035WM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116066
Benq FP202W - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014105

If there are any additional displays that you would suggest, I would be open too.

Pretty much all of these are nice displays, but I am looking for some additional insight. As of right now, I am leaning towards getting the Acer because of the nice P-MVA panel.

I really value accurate color reproduction above all. I already have a decent 360 setup so I won't be using this display for much gaming at all.

I wouldn't exactly say your current list of monítors really fit your requirement, unless of course, you are on a strict budget?

S-IPS panels are generally regarded as the best for color reproduction, particularly over a broad viewing angle. That's not to say that a good S-PVA-based monitor won't provide color fidelity, but there is the matter of less contrast when viewed directly on (exactly perpendicular to).

Given the above, I would say monitors such as NEC's 20WGX2* (S-IPS) or Eizo's FlexScan S2111W (S-PVA) are perhaps more appropriate candidates. Although already dated, Samsung's 215TW (S-PVA) received positive commentary in terms of color fidelity.

That's all I can think of but of course there are many more S-IPS (A-TW-IPS) / S-PVA monitors that might fit the bill. One possibility is to use this Monitor table to filter out monitors by size / panel type, and then search for comments on [H] or reviews from the usual suspects.

*Be warned that the 20WGX2 has a glossy coating

If you aren't put off by the anti-glare finish and the panel lottery, the S-IPS version of the Dell 2007wfp is about the best deal around.

I agree. I don't know what the chances of getting an S-IPS are.

They are pretty high. I say at least 50/50 chance. But even the PVA in the 2007 is better then any TN's. If you are on a budget stay away from TN's and try and get an S-PVA or MVA panel;)
