that would top the list actually. but if you can deal with a 30 dollar rebate you can get a 5770 for under a hundred (considerably faster with DX11 in the same power envelop.) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161338 that would be my pick.

if you can up your budget a little you can get a 768mb 460GTX around 115 AR as well. free game as well http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162058

Thanks, hopefully I can land some good deals in the next week or I will probably just hold off until I can save another $100 - $200 dollars.

$300 can nearly land you a 480.
What resolution do you play at??
There are many 5770s for just over $100 on here, I can link you to some if you'd like

I agree that if you can get your hands on a GTX460 768MB for just a bit more, you won't regret it.

Do you mind buying used? like are you looking through the FS section? I have 2x 4850s I'm selling for 60$ a piece or $110 for both...YGPM

What resolution monitor do you have/plan to buy and whats your intended usage would be the main question you'd need to answer first.
Your power supply will also be determinative of what video card you can use.
Is this a regular form factor PC or is it an htpc, etc.

+1 for this, if you're gaming at 1920x1080 or below this is the best bang for your buck. Nvidia sells these cards at a pretty big loss AFAIK.

Would like to add a second one eventually.

in that case save your money and just pick up one of the used 4850 for 60 bucks. 512mb is fine, you don't need any more memory then that. and don't bother with 460GTX. if you want DX11 for any reason then either go with a 5750/70 or even a 5670. you can get an of the three for under a hundred new.

I really should have asked this myself. thanks iviyth0s

the 4850 is underpriced :D its such a good card... but so many new cards coming out its price has to come down.
