Or a dude with a mortar. The problem is, everytime you see someone with a pretty decent (3.0+) KDR, 9/10 times it's just some dickbag with an M249 laying prone the entire match.
It's really risky to do this because flying in a straight line is a good way to attract every kind of AA. I'm not sure why you think this is a bad thing.
If I am in a tank, how am I suppose to shoot it down? Suicide, change to engineer and launch MANPADS? What if I want to uhh, drive a tank.. and not be running around launching stupid shoulder fired missiles that just get decoyed anyway. What a waste of time.
Just drive the tank then? Don't stay still, keep moving, and stay in areas that's hard for aircraft to hit. As AceCR42 pointed out, when a plane is trying to attack a ground target, they're gonna be flying a in straight line which leaves them wide open to AA and even coaxial guns. So just like you in a tank, a pilot in a jet is also subject to extreme risks depending on how they drive/fly. At least in my experiences as a tanker, I may not kill the aircraft out right but I'd damage it heavily to the point where it can be killed by an actual AA or force him to stay away.
