Battery Logging

I am wondering, is there a way to throw an event into the event log when my laptop goes from plugged to unplugged? Like, "VAIO has gone into battery state at xx:xx" I always forget to look at the time when I unplug it and I'd like to figure out how long my battery lasts on a full charge and see how long it takes to charge fully.

If you have trouble being reminded of when you unplugged your laptop, you could run a program like Centrino Hardware Control that will show icons in the System Tray graphically to represent that you are running on battery power.
