Performance seems pretty good. I'm running with everything on their highest setting exception motion blur since I dislike motion blur and 4x MSAA at 2560x1440. Getting above 30FPS.
LOL @ Electrocutioner, omfg
8's for a score from most review sites, and yet everyone is throwing it into the bargain bin. I don't get it. I guess everyone expects the game industry to revolutionize each iteration, when we all know that's far from what reality is sadly.
I'll post some of my own personal thoughts when I get into the game later tonight, but I'm a monstrous Batman fan (I try to keep bias out as much as possible, however).
Since when do 8's mean a bad game?
They don't. The problem here is a series of wildly inflated and bizarre expectations.
I believe when reviewers such as Sessler talk of this, they mean they would like "more of the same with a twist" rather than just "more of the same" — not that there must be some drastic change that would denature what the game is. What that twist should be, however, I do not know...Revolutionizing things every sequel on most games would be terrible. Some game series are built around the idea of every iteration being different (Final Fantasy, for example) but others have a set structure to how they should play and be presented. The Arkham games have a very specific style and gameplay to them. Radically changing what the game is would mean it is no longer an Arkham game anymore. The "more of the same" argument against sequels always bugs me. It's like reviewers are reaching for things to bitch about because they feel obligated to do so. Every game sequel can't be Assassin's Creed 2, which is what a lot of people and reviewers seem to expect. Asylum and City were already both amazing games, there really isn't a lot to improve on gameplay wise from either game. There can't be a massive leap from game to game when there isn't a massive leap to be taken.

So far I'm digging it although the audio glitches are very real. The first 3 cutscenes when you start the game are a scratchy/poppy mess. In-game audio is also a little off.
Not far enough to judge the game, but Nvidia owners - unless you have a MONSTER system, avoid the new AA option. It looks amazing, but it's a system hog. It dropped my FPS by about 40%. Going back to FXAA normalized everything. If you own a Titan or dual cards it's probably worth it for the visual splendor, though.

I'm using my 680's HDMI-out for audio. Raw audio straight through my receiver. Not sure if anything is a known issue - I just got up 30 minutes ago and only just finished a 10-minute runthrough.
The AA that was giving me massive issues is "TXAA High." Not sure if it was the AA or the combination of it and the PhysX effects, but any time any smoke was onscreen my FPS dropped into the 30's and 40's from a pretty constant 60. I keep my card with a +150 core clock and +350 memory clock OC, too...so I'm even floating above stock.
Textures in this game suck. My only real complaint. Given how large the game is (24GB) I feel like there is a lot of wasted space given the shit quality of the textures.
It's buggy though. I have already ran into 2 problems. One where you get stuck in a room and have no way out except to restart for last checkpoint. You just can't exit the room. And another where I ran into 2 thugs on a roof, buried in the snow. One up to his shoulders with a pipe and another up to his forehead lol. I wish I took a screen shot.
The stuck in a room one. I got into a room of one of the radio towers by breaking the window. Then I grappled a vent cover tore it down, then hooked it to get into the room. I couldn't climb into the vent, so I dropped down, saw a locked panel, hacked it, and it closed the window I broke into with steel bars. So the only way out is through the vent, but you can't get into the vent, the door doesn't open, so you are stuck.
Still if you liked AA and AC, the game feels just like them and graphically it's about the same IMHO. I like it except for the stuck room bug I got into. The other 2 games AA and AC, I never ran into issues like this they were much more polished out the door.
