you have no idea what it feels like either yet you still commented on the new game...and my post specifically stated it was based on "gameplay videos"

Yes, except I did not state an opinion of gameplay that would be formulated after playing it. You did.

I meant the comic book world of Batman...not a story continuation...the Batman movies were a real-life take on the character which lost the comic-book feel

I know exactly what you meant. You clearly don't know what I mean. Read my comment again. I did not comment whatsoever on live action Batman movies.

The Arkham games have nothing to do with the Batman comic world at all.

what don't you understand about my comment being based on GAMEPLAY VIDEOS...long ass 15 minute video too...not just the one released today but one released a few months back as well...and you did speculate on the gameplay by saying that the investigative aspects are featured more in Origins

and once again I'm not comparing the Batman storylines from the comics I'm comparing the world it inhabits (even though a lot of the background stories do match up)...the atmosphere and mainly the amazing characters...the Arkham games nailed that

While I'm passively interested in the Batman world and lore, I'm more interested in the game itself. I'm willing to overlook the whole game breaking canon or even having a so-so plot if it's a fun game. I don't have enough vested in the DC universe to mind.

More or less agreed. Would like to see the game skew away from the DCAU. I feel like it's holding the series' plots back.

I'm just waiting for the pre-load now... I'm tentatively hopeful this will be 'more of the same' with some tweaks here and there and a good story. The core mechanics in AC were extremely solid so as long as they don't break anything, I would think it would be hard for this different dev team to screw it up.

edit: Also, for anyone interested in getting the game now on the cheap, check out the FS/FT forum here on [H]. People are selling their AO codes that came with graphics cards for about $30.

Nolan batman movies make me cringe (Dark Knight the least). Well any Nolan movie I've seen actually makes me cringe. Tim Burton's Batman stays at the top for me.

I am excited for AO! got it pre-ordered just before saints row 4 dropped using a 25% off at GMG.

The game seems quite serious about detective mode last I heard where you build the crime scene evidence more than the last games. Although AC promised a lot more of that and most feel it didn't deliver to that extent.

The joker in AO gives me more of a vibe of BTAS season 3 that changed to a different art style.

AC didn't deliver much of anything as far as the detective aspect is concerned. They highlighted a 5x5 area and made the "clues" impossible to miss.

I'd actually prefer a bit more of detective work and stealth than straight up action. It'd be cool if you helped build a case against someone but could actually fuck it up with clues being far more ambiguous and send the wrong person to jail, lol. Lose some public reputation which creates more enemies and they are less likely to be intimidated by you or something. IDEAS ARE FUN

I just wish the "detective" stuff was just more natural, less "put on these magical goggles and look at the brightly coloured objects" and more you know......actual detective stuff.

Something like you had in LA Noire.

Don't force them on a player and let those players that actually pay attention/find the things use them, so it's optional but rewarding, if you don't wanna play detective you don't have to and can still move forward, but if you do find clues, piece together things it can have affects, changing storylines, unlocking events, etc.

Something like Vampire: TMB, how you could completely have different experiences depending on what you did and how you played it.

Here's hoping we get some Mass Effect style romance options. ("Hellooooo Catwoman!")

The Batman franchise as a whole (movies, comics, and games) has moved away from the detective stuff quite a bit. Batman was always at his best when he wasn't just basically running around punching people, but taking his time to put together clues and analyze things. I wish modern Batman was more like TAS Batman, that show is more fun to watch all these years later then trying to read DC's excuse for storytelling now. The Arkham games have nice moments and do the character stuff well, but they come down to just being fun to play and experience, with the story being decent but not amazing.

So I finally beat Arkham City today. It's a good thing the graphics are so good and the combat system is enjoyable, since the story is lame as shit.

I like how Robin shows up for two seconds.

No one likes Robin. Not even Batman.

God wouldn't that be awesome! Catwoman in AC is the hottest female character I've ever seen in a game.

I just finished playing AC again and finally the Harley Quinn's revenge DLC that everybody raved about... man, kinda let down with that. Didn't advance the plot one single bit. I do hope that there is followup to AC.

Man I can't wait! Pulled a couple extra hours at my 2nd job last week just so I could buy this on day 1. Haven't been this excited for a game since Mass Effect 3.

some people seem determined to buy the game at all costs no matter what...if every reputable reviewer and every player said the game was disappointing or sucked I bet the same people would still buy the game out of blind loyalty...amazing that more people aren't concerned at all about Rocksteady moving on to another Batman game...let that sink in...they are making a new Batman game but it looks like WB could not wait an extra year and needed to release another entry

I'd say most games get that treatment, even if reviews & gamer consensus say otherwise.

Right, it's not awesome news, and there's red flags for sure, but the game itself looks solid from what we've all seen. If the story makes sense, and everything aligns, a good game is still a good game at the end of the day.

But we've got another 2 days before we're sure.

Most review sucks, just like movies. I prefer polling both user experience and reviews. Most of the time reviewer pass the game with cheats on, uber easy difficulty etc to make it possible to have the time for a review so

Agreed. Though in my case, reviewers seem to have wildly different tastes than I do. I've seen reviews that complained about features I liked, and reviews that bashed games that I consider classics. It's gotten to the point where I no longer read reviews. I might look at a Metacritic score now and then, but otherwise I tend to just play what interests me, and if I lose a few bucks in the process, oh well.

Same here... also early review tend to overhype me and i always end up disapointed that's why i stopped reading them a while ago

Yeah cause reviews are always spot on. Didnt Dragon Age 2 get rave reviews? I think I saw several favorable reviews of Duke Nukem Forever too.

Generally youre right that you should wait to see what the community response to a game is but if its something that you absolutely love, youre gonna want it and youre most likely really going to enjoy it. Mass Effect, Dead Space and Batman are 2 such games for me. When Dead Space 3 came out, I bought it without thinking about it and loved the shit out of it. When Dead Space 4 comes out, day 1, Ill be there money in hand. Same with ME2 and ME3 and Arkham City. Ive seen enough to see that they havent changed the fundamentals of the game as in controls, scenery and atmosphere and thats what matters. Im all in on day 1 and dont think Ill be disappointed.

What, like it would sell zero copies if what you said was the case? Come on, man. There are always people who will find enjoyment in something even if the masses don't. I guarantee a lot of people wouldn't give a flying shit about the story or anything else just so they can play as Batman again.

Let what sink in? You don't know how the game or the story pans out, so why would you give this developer any less a chance with this than Rocksteady when Arkham Asylum was announced? Rocksteady has developed the same amount of games that WB Montreal has (3)

I'm generally a pessimist but goddamn the negativity surrounding Arkham Origins just due to the developers is fucking ridiculous.

From my understanding Rocksteady has been involved with Origins in offering opinions and they also freely gave them their source material to work off of, which Montreal didn't really change much because why fix what isn't broken?

We have to remember, Rocksteady themselves struck gold with Batman - before it they only made a couple average at best games. Now people look at them as the masters of the superhero game. I can't wait for their next game, be it another Batman game, Superman game, or Justice League game - whatever it is they are working on. But I am definitely willing to give Montreal a chance on Origins.

I'm pretty sure they made clear they were basically re-using AC assets outrightand putting this Origins spin on it.

Unless they really threw a bunch of technical glitches and BS at it I can't see where AC fans can go wrong here.

You can go to the part of Gotham that will eventually be sectioned off into Arkham City, but I've never seen anything stated that they're basically recycling Arkham City's assets.
