Batman: Arkham Knight delayed, new video impresses

Go figure. It just started showing up on Steam with a confirmed price and release very recently, too.

Looking good. Only thing that bothers me is the 'Skype'ing with Oracle. Why wouldn't Batman just use audio to communicate with her like he did in the previous games? I'm going to assume that the video feed is only visible through Batman's mask, otherwise anybody that's spying on Batman could just identify whomever Batman is Skype-ing with.

that was Awesome.
whatever date they decide to release it on ill be there

Was never a fan of Arkham games, but that looked pretty awesome.

The Batman Arkham series games have been badass so far. This one looks like it will be also. Will probably be a day 1 buy for me.
Anyone know where in the timeline this game takes place? I'm guessing this is after Arkham City.

only a 3 week delay...no big deal...I guess multiple game delays are the trend for next-gen games

Honestly after the mess that was AAA gaming last year I'm totally fine with games getting delayed.

I kind of prefer it over the "walk slowly and put two fingers up to your head" thing they have been doing. It always looked really ridiculous in Batman games. Having a holographic screen on his wrist tied to the Batcave and Barbra seems like a much more Batman thing to do. It's a bit weird and silly, but it still feels like a Batman thing.

I know I say this in every Batman AK thread but I am so freaking excited for this game! Day 1 buy and possibly a ore-order for me.

As for the delay, I have absolutely no problem with it. I would much rather have them take a little longer and make sure it's right than to have it released early with a bunch of bugs.

as a casual gamer i sort out carefully the games i play. i manage about 4-5 a year i think this just cracked the list. great promo video

Why can't they fix the combat in this game? I'm not asking Souls good, but then again why not? The button smashing is so boring in this shit. I mean Mordor specifically got points taken off of review scores for it's simplistic button smashing combat and Batman games are exactly the same(read: Identical) to Mordor. I mean combat is such a HUGE integral part of the gameplay I wish they would at least make it interesting.

If all you are doing is mashing buttons in either game you aren't playing properly and are just being lazy and not trying to learn the system.

Oh please you know damn well what I mean. Don't be daft.

Not really because Arkham style combat has a specific flow and rhythm to it that is unlike other fighting systems (and outside of Mordor is poorly copied in other games). It's not like Dark Souls because that would be fucking stupid for a Batman game.Batman combat should be free-flowing, fast paced, and highly reactionary because THAT IS HOW BATMAN FIGHTS!

yeah the Batman games are all about chaining attacks together to get those bonus XP points! :D ...combat is fine when you use all the gadgets and other tricks in his arsenal...the inverted takedowns or whatever you call those attacks where you swoop down from a gargoyle statue and hang the enemies upside down never gets old

This is what I am talking about, it's awful. Hell even 'Mordor does it better.

Derangel is right, there is nothing button mashing about the combat. Maybe you got through the single player doing mostly button mashing, but to be really *good* at it (especially in things like the challenge rooms where you're going specifically for points, not just successfully beating up all bad guys) you need some finesse, timing, and tactics.

Besides, there's also the fact that it LOOKS fucking cool and it's the best cinematic look to fighting I've ever seen in any game to date.

No, it doesn't. Mordor is more brutal, but the actual combat system feels somewhere in between Asylum and City. Better than Origins, but not quite at Rocksteady's level.

Fix the combat? If you get bored with Batman games then you are doing it wrong.

The batman games are like a perfect example of a good modern beat em up with a pretty good stealth system tact on.

If you're not using all the moves/gadgets or maintaining combos in fights what's the point in playing? In that respect it sort of like devil may cry.

I felt like origins got it way wrong, you had to either spam attacks or counters to maintain any type of combo in that game, no flow what so ever.

It is how batman fights but it is a VERY simple combat system. It could use a overhaul. But I still enjoy the games. Hopefully there is still some stealth element in this game.

This looks awesome, except for all the slow motion. That was almost too much, not just the cut scenes, but everywhere.
Are the button prompts how you "fight" in the batman games? So it's a collection of comboing QTE's? I want to fight, not follow prompts. I haven't played any of the batman games, so I don't know if this is "how its supposed to be".

I'm sure that's in there just as part of the first tutorials of the game. None of the previous games had button prompts during combat. Even if they do appear in the new game there will certainly be an option to turn them off.

The combat is certainly no QTE.

In the previous Arkham games it was not all slo mo. That happens as you build up in combo's and power but it can get pretty fast and hectic as the difficulty and game progress. When you have a chance to block someone it can slow down a bit but again as you progress that slow down essentially vanishes.

Mostly its a suggestion or reminder not a QTE as in large fights you have to select when to take the hit or when to break a fight and block. It has a really nice flow to it letting you pan around and select your target and attack.

OP thanks for the link. I made the mistake of actually searching for the video on YT and I cannot stand all these dumb "reaction videos" of the video. Literally pages and pages of these guys. Who watches these people to keep them doing these videos?
