Backpack PCs for VR...

these actually look kinda cool they just need to get 1070/80s into them lower power consumption and improve performance. they need a couple hour battery life at least.
 
This seems like it would be much more practical for AR than for VR. How much do you really need to walk around in VR? Room-scale on the Vive is plenty for now. On the other hand, the ability to wear a HoloLens everywhere and use it like a crazy Google Glass on steroids would be pretty bonkers.
 
We have wireless-AC now, with awesome connectivity speeds. It would make far more sense to use something like the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Gear VR cradle to be wireless, and then stream a feed to it via a wired in desktop. And if on the road, like on a long flight, you make due with less performance using just the processor on the S7 for watching videos and playing lighter weight games.
