Hi

I've been given an Avocent DSR2010 KVM switch to play around with an manage some home servers etc.

I've got all the hardware etc, but I've just realised I need some kind of management software. Obviously I'm not going to pay thousands for DSView, so can anyone recommend a free alternative?

I've done some searching and seen a few pepople mention AVWorks - will this allow me to remotely manage the servers?

Thanks

Phil

I tried for months to find even a pirated version for a similar model. Couldn't find a thing. I ended up eBaying it.

Thanks for the info. Is there anything you would recommend on ebay that could provide KVM over IP that doesn't require any specialist software?

I've seen discussions of KVM-IP switches that have their own built-in webserver that can be managed through a browser.

Cheers

The higher end Avocent ones have built in webservers. IPKVM is pretty costly though.

Raritan's Domininion KX and KXII series have built-in web access as well as a free viewer. I haven't found many below $500 that work and have a couple SIMs. If you do find one below $500, make sure it's not a serial terminal unit or Slave (SX)
HP has an obsolete KVM-IP, but I haven't been able to find any documentation on it.

The performance of the lantronix is usually good, specially if you compare it to atens. My personal favorite when it comes to remote kvm performance are although the ip kvms from minicom
