I understand that avi is already 10 years old or so, and mkv is the newer container.
can anyone enlighten me as to some of the other differences between the two?
i have been looking on the web, and one thing that many seem to say is that mkv is an open standart, its is much less prone to programmer mistakes.
it can contain much more data and many more choices than avi, and some other benefits.
