One thing that people need to realise is that in Australia there are a lot of people here that either do not understand what they are giving up and are willing to sacrifice a lot of privacy just to be "safe". Its just a different mentality of the people, more people seem to trust authority here compared to say the USA.
While its pretty much a guarantee unless Labor has leadership spill that the government will change at the election. Labor still supported this bill through parliament so they are no better. At this point, it doesn't matter whether it is the left boot or the right boot that's on your neck, we need to throw out the whole shoe rack and try again
Everyone around the internet keeps suggesting this but it wont happen. If Apple left there would be 1000s of jobs gone and they wouldnt want to deal with that PR. All the companies will likely make a variant of their product for the Australian market and we will also get less and less products to chose from as less companies will ship their whole range.Easy way to handle this. Microsoft, Apple, Google, etc all just say they cannot comply with the law and give the ultimatum that they will pull out of Australia entirely if required.
The news is busting for us to be a target. They jump on anything that puts us on the world stage and make a mountain out of every ant hill.Once again, Australia proves it's the biggest joke on the internet.
I don't get why Australia is so authoritarian with national defense. Who the hell wants to invade that country? Do terrorists even know about that country?
