Audigy 2 does not show up in device manager

No PCI Audio Devices or anything show up and despite reseating it, it does not come up as new hardware found or anything. It's simply as it doesn't exist.

I've tried a repair install of windows. Nothing.

Here's the kicker, it worked fine until I swapped out my x1900xt for a replacement after it died.

unplug it, reboot, plug it back in, but into a different slot this time, then boot up... see if it gets detected. if not, manually install it.

I just swapped the slots, it STILL does not get detected at all in device manager.

What do you mean, manualy install it?

edit: AND I reformated to no avail

I had a problem like that in my ASUS A8V. Go into the BIOS and make sure the onboard is disabled. Even if it's on auto it can still cause problems. Least mine did.

if the above fails, make sure you have the latest motherboard drivers.
Install them with nothing more than you need plugged in to get basic function.
If that works plug stuff back in to see what if anything makes it fail.
