First off I'm putting this in the AMD CPU section because it relates to unlocking cores.

Back in July I started a thread about how I was unable to unlock my previously unlockable PII 555 since getting a new Asus Sabertooth 990FX. In post #18 an Asus rep mentions that there should be a BIOS update that will resolve this. Well guess what? It's here :D

I just updated to the 0705 BIOS and unlocked my PII 555 to a quad. I've been Folding and playing games for the past couple hours without a hitch! Not a comprehensive stress test by any means, but good enough for me! Thank you Asus!!!

Your results may vary / flash at your own risk, etc, etc...

Yes thanks, that's the link.

Well 24hrs later and I'm still running stable on 4 cores :)

btw, I thought I read somewhere that several 900-series boards were afflicted with the failure to unlock chips that had unlocked fine with the previous 800-series boards. ie, not just the Sabertooth.

Yes I think you're right. There is some talk about that in the old thread I linked above; I think someone mentioned some discussion about it over at the XS forums.
