ATI/AMD Control Panel - What happened to the "Texture Quality" setting?

Hey guys,

After all the talk about AMD altering default settings to improve benchmark results, I'd like to ask the community a question:

What ever became of the setting that allowed you to change Texture Image Quality? I had a 5870 that I recently sold for 350 to buy a 6870, However, upon upgrading drivers I noticed that 6970 (Or latest driver version) no longer had the Fastest Performance/Balanced/High/Highest texture setting.

Is this all part of the accusations against AMD or another side of them nobody has brought up? Or am I just totally wrong... :p

Lest we forget: (AND I Hate to repost it...) http://www.tomshardware.com/news/radeon-catalyst-image-quality-benchmark,11701.html

Err yeah. I'm at work right now, I never play games on my Bench PC so I didn't even realize I had an ATI 3400 Series card, but nevertheless, As far as Mipmap Detail Level, which is what it is, I'm fairly certain that at home, It's not present on 10.1 (not E, just default) & 6870.

It seems as if ATI has removed this setting, I assume it is modifable via Registry or 3rd party tweak tools, I will post the solution when I find it later - It is THE FIRST thing I noticed after DriverCleaner/New Video Card/Initial Setup and Configuration. I bet you its locked at the old default, which was balanced.

I totally noticed a change of image quality on Crysis versus the old Catalyst 10.02 which I ran on my 5870, Crysis looked washed out, fuzzy and the distant scenery was pretty bad in comparison to 5870... I have 20/20 vision and I have always had a keen eye for video. I am not just making this up :p

You must have more than 20/20 vision to see an IQ change at high resolutions. According to Guru3d, 99.99% of people won't be able to discern a difference.

Edit: Also, when did you sell your 5870?

select "all," then look for mipmap quality... it's right there!

AF doesn't seem to mean anything, lol. Mipmap is what you are looking for.

Yes, should be mipmap. When I set mipmap to high quality, textures look much sharper in Starcraft II. When it's set to performance, it blooks blurry.

Nope, it's definately not there. That's the Catalyst AI setting people are talking about.

When you open RadeonPro, it shows the global profile as being set to medium midmap levels as default and have to change them.

You should tell Japamd:

By default, mipmap settings are maxed when you use Catalyst AI HQ settings in CCC. If RadeonPRO alters this, he should know. :)

Are you using 10.10e hotfix or the 10.11 official drivers? 10.11 renames it and defaults it to High Quality. 10.10e hotfix keeps the older naming scheme and changes the setting around.

Then again, it's a hotfix.

EDIT: well... that image didn't show up earlier...

EDIT2: did this a wee bit ago. Loaded with the niceness I show unenlightened individuals :).

Don't be mistakened by the clear speach. I'm a bit drowsy from some useless cold medicine.

That pic is from the 10.10e drivers, 10.11 doesn't support the 6870 cards.

Don't even have a real driver set for these cards yet, shame on you AMD/ATI or whoever you are.

Thanks for that video, I don't have that in my CCC at all. Good video though lol can't argue with that.

Good to know it does exist though, must mean it should return for the 10.12 hopefully.
