Anandtech has a nice showdown between the both version of the Surface Laptop. AMD vs Intel on the same chassis. AMD needs to get it's 7nm APU out to be competetive:

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 Showdown: AMD's Ryzen Picasso vs. Intel's Ice Lake

There aren’t too many ways to sugar coat the results of this showdown though. AMD’s Picasso platform, featuring its Zen+ cores and coupled with a Vega iGPU, has been a tremendous improvement for AMD. But Intel’s Ice Lake platform runs circles around it. Sunny Cove cores coupled with the larger Gen 11 graphics have proven to be too much to handle.

Yeah, ever since the Ryzen 2500u launched two years ago (with good results on everything but battery life), Intel has been scrambling to catch up. But they have a much more advanced CPU AND GPU, and this time AMD's answer is late to the party..

You can't expect to keep up with a new CPU with a simple refresh.

That AT article is months behind. Good start for AMD but they're still a bit behind on the mobile front. That said you gotta start somewhere on the premium front.

No, they're not. Their AMD review was back in October, but Microsoft only sent them AMD...until now, for a direct compariison!

Every other review outlet has only covered Intel or AMD, so it was well worth the wait.
