Same price as LG, surprised there's no ROG tax here. I would like to see a glossy (or at least a much lighter matte) version with 240Hz BFI. Blurbusters hinted that they are pushing for BFI on these 240Hz OLEDs but it won't be a thing on the first gen products. A glossy 240Hz BFI OLED would get me to ditch my CX for it.

Found the following comment to explain why Microcenter delisted the monitor:
"I got the monitor yesterday as well. TODAY I RESERVED A SECO D ONE AT MICROCENTER AND THEY JUST CALLED ME TO LET ME KNOW THE MONITOR WAS RECALLED BECAUSE THEY BROKE STREET DATE BY ACCODENT. FEELS SO GOOD HAVING IT NOW"

I’ve been trying to figure out what the release date is. I assume it’s March15th because someone commented on the reddit thread that the asus support person they spoke to said March 15th for soft launch and April for full launch.

I'm happy I went for the LG because I couldn't wait, but the Asus would probably technically have a better calibration (and data sheet) out of the box. Not sure how different the modes would be or how different the screen heatsink is - I'd say the LG probably has somewhat of one in the hexagon section, but Asus's claims to be better. Is the screen finish/coating similar?

This would have been badass if it was 4k 43" 240hz and didn't have burn in I would be very interested lol but a 27"? Undesirable :wtf:

Unfortunately, there aren't any real 32" gaming OLEDs available at this point - I agree a 4K OLED at 32" would be amazing, though (assuming burn-in wouldn't be an issue).

I'd still argue 27" is a pretty nice size for a monitor depending on space. I came from 27" and wanted to go 32", but it just wasn't to be. (And honestly the viewing angles towards the corner close to a 32" became a problem, albeit a relatively small one, with IPS).

Exactly. What kills these for me is burn in and laughable PPI for 2023. Size wise 28-32" are both my upper limit depending on how deep your desk allows, but 4k is a must at those sizes and 5k preferred (not really available). Or equivalent ultrawide being the 34" 5k2k. Anything bigger you must sit way too far for monitor use and IPS and VA characteristics become a major issue.

Limitation of the technology. People are complaining about the brightness at 1440p, it would be much worse at 4k.

What you want won't exist for awhile.

I think that even if the tech limits weren't there, LG would still choose to handicap the brightness for longevity reasons. It doesn't matter if we get an OLED EX panel with MLA 2.0 Brightness Booster Pro Max Ultra tech if LG chooses to cap off the peak brightness to 600 nits in the end.

I would say SDR Brightness. All the talks I've seen online is the SDR brightness.

Not every game supports brightness and windows 10 in HDR is mediocre. I've had the LG for almost a month and I am returning it because I need the brightness at 85 with contrast at 80/85 to be comfortable. I usually run my monitors around 50-70%. I am coming from a PG279Q and the main reason im replacing it is because the backlight is dying so I have 2 bright spots on the edge which sometimes completely go dim or stay bright.

Asus advertises 450 nits versus LG's 200 and thats enough for me. The LG also has other issues that LG still hasn't commented on and I dont have faith in LG to fix the issues if they cant even acknowledge them. The main issues are the aggressive screen dimming and 4k resolution output. The screen dimming can be "fixed" by turning off the Smart Energy Saving but this isn't recommend on OLED's for obvious reasons AND it voids your warranty if you do this. The resolution bug can be fixed via CRU but you have to remember to do it every time you update your drivers or you will end up launching a game, getting the dialog on screen telling you "your resolution is set to 4k, please set it to 1440p" and then having to do the whole CRU fix.

TL;DR: Some people are going with the ASUS because of SDR brightness being higher (450 vs 200), less (or none) aggressive screen dimming and no 4k input firmware bug.

The only guy who seems to own one from Reddit posted a Youtube video not the best review =)
All I know the brightness is slightly higher than the LG but really that aspect is not a problem for me.
I even switched over all my lamps in my room to led Edison bulbs because I got nuked by the monitor two weeks ago.

There's at least 4 people I've seen that have the monitor and posted on reddit but only this guy went as far as making a youtube video and actively answering questions in both of his threads.

I am looking forward to tomorrow and hoping MC got more stock so I can grab one. I hope along with MC, BB gets some in stock because their $149 4yr replacement plan is looking real good on this OLEDs

I don't have time right now to watch that guys whole review, is it the same coating as the LG? I'm really thinking about just picking one up to try it. I love my FO48U but space-wise its a real pain, its just hard to use a 48" screen for a desktop. I've been trying to use my Dell 27" 1440p IPS and its awful, my eyes hurt within 10-15 minutes of looking at it.

Yeah I had to turn the settings down on my LG and buy a different stand took me like 2 weeks to get used to it but it's worth it. I wish I waited for the Asus not sure if it makes much of a difference in games.

So the coating is the same? I might just pick up the LG to try it then, its available locally.

The ASUS looks really nice but the LG fits my needs just fine, brightness included (I calibrate to 160 anyways, so I wouldn't use the extra headroom, though being able to turn off the ABL would be nice [though I'm not 100% on which modes that applies to on the ASUS]). Now that I have settings set, I'd be hesitant to switch to a different menu system anyways as I've got this prettymuch exactly where I want it. haha. It's awesome there are some more options using this panel out, but happy I went for the LG when I did.
