Yeah, it's great and has been discussed in detail here:

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1800408

Grab some pop-corn and some extra water as there are over 100 pages.

i know its a TN panel at 144hz 1ms 1440 also my buddy sold his U3011 dell for the asus he was hooked just to get it......i know what 6ms wait is and 5ms wait or rather Lag time, everybody is out of them some places are selling them for 1400 bucks right now, i was thinking of 27 " Usharp the $899. one, its 6ms gtg....

i see its the best of the ones out there in this catagory and very sturdy well built
whats your input in few words cyber.......?

In my own few words:

If you are willing to look beyond the letters TN (a lot of people are not), and don't mind doing some calibration and adjustments, I personally think it's worth it.

There's a giant thread dedicated to this on the first page of the Display section...it astonishes me how lazy people are, I expect more from long time members.

Manufacturer provided response time specifications are worthless, disregard them and Google some reviews which contain actual measurements. Most 150$ IPS will blow the U2410 away unless one confuses over-saturated and inaccurate wide gamut colours for quality.

I can say going from a U3011 to the asus rog swift has been a great experience. I love the smooth no tearing gameplay (gsync) I get with this monitor and 980's in sli. Great monitor use nowinstock to track it and find it at msrp. Don't pay the scalpers....

It doesn't have the contrast/blacks an IPS typically has, therefore it's not quite as vibrant.

I was surprised by the image quality over other TN panels. I was happy. The response time is very important with Gsync so think of it that way.

You won't be able to run the PG278Q at 144 Hz with an AMD card. I heard this was a driver problem that AMD and ASUS were working on fixing, but I don't know if it has been fixed yet. You can still run at 120 Hz.

Watch this page and setup an alert:
http://www.nowinstock.net/computers/monitors/asus/

This is how I got mine from NewEgg. Stock is refreshed pretty sporadically. I wouldn't be surprised if there was another large shipment in the near future like back in October. It seems like the people who got one from this latest batch have been experiencing none of the problems some of the early adopters have had.

Someone in the master thread mentioned putting it next to his U3011 and he couldn't tell a difference at first glance. Only when comparing pictures with certain color combinations did he pick out differences in color performance.

TN and IPS panels are just about on equal footing when it comes to contrast and black levels. Sometimes a TN can beat an IPS in both respects. This particular monitor after calibration shows an 858:1 contrast ratio and 0.14 cd/m2 black point as reported by TFT Central. For comparison the Qnix QX2710 showed 696:1 and 0.18 respectively. The BenQ BL2710PT showed 788:1 and 0.15. Both of the latter are popular IPS monitors.

*now im a little worried about driver problem for AMD gpu, still this wont stop me. (I know asus owns Amd or the other way around)

something will come thru to make it work......after reading and seeing the the Alert asus in stock charts and all this stuff 100 page threads...is this the monitor of the century?
i have now a U2410 for the past 3 or so years 6ms Maximum Resolution 1920 x 1200 the asus will crush my dell many time over YES?

"Thanks Armenius" for the heads up! on the driver,im very aware of amd driver problems
PLEASE GOD LET THE DRIVER FOR THE 144HZ BE READY FOR DOWNLOAD WHEN I GET MY NEW TN PANEL FROM ASUS AMEN.EAGLEONE

Ideally, get it from bestbuy.

1. $749 (bestbuy) vs $799 (everywhere else: newegg, amazon, etc)
2. If you dont like it, you can drive to the store and return it (assuming you have a best buy nearby)

I'll be honest here, it does not look good straight out of the box like an IPS might, you have to do your homework and calibrate the monitor properly (I almost regretted the purchase when I saw the out of the box colors), even if it is only just using your eyes and adjusting brightness, contrast, gamma and colors.

After calibration though, it's a completely different ball park.

Why is thread still open? Stop encouraging the op's extreme laziness. The most basic research (reading the giant thread on the first page or Googling reviews) would have answered all questions.

Using someone else's ICC profile ≠ calibration. The PG278Q has very accurate colour presets, but a matte TN is a matte TN...

Good luck leaving the u2410 for a TN. IMO, u2410 is one of the best monitors ever produced. I gamed on it for years (FPS) and while it may not provide the greatest performance, the looks are well worth the hit.

Unless you are playing professionally, I dont think it matters all that much and even then its iffy.
