ASUS PG279Q 144hz 1440P IPS G-Sync

I'd be happy seeing a 1440p @ 165. Since we haven't seen that yet, I'm not in a hurry to see faster.

Yeah I'm happy to see 1440p getting faster and faster. It quickly went from 144 to 165 in just 1 year so maybe it'll hit 200Hz sooner than we think.

I am going to say that it will cost more than the Acer due to more expensive material being used for the stand, I say around $849-$899.

Anyone know if it will have the same matte display as the PG278Q? If it's going to have the same matte display, I may end up going with Acer'sXB270HU, as that one doesn't have as strong an AG coating, I think?

Well as far as we know this panel is using the same one as the Acer one.

I was under the impression that it was a totally new panel, and that was part of the delay. Are people overclocking the Acer to 165Mhz or whatever they're claiming this one will be able to do?

i am assuming its a new panel too, but it could be same panel with new dressing and AG coating

$1156.89 wow really?

Can't be MSRP can it?

Okay, first of all Overclockers UK isn't usually the cheapest outlet. Second, Brits include VAT in the retail price as I understand. Plus seller markups and even a pre-order premium. But most importantly just because they pay that much across the pond doesn't mean we pay that according to the exchange rate. It'll be $800 or so for us. No worries.

Based on the OCUK linked posted earlier, these two specific points that bear note, assuming they are accurate.

Everything I've read says that to use G-sync, you must use Display Ports. Has that changed, or is that new with this monitor?

Yes. The HDMI port is just there for people who want to plug in a game console. Nothing to do with G-Sync.

Just in time when i decided to get a new monitor i found out about this upcoming beast.
I really hope it wont cost more than 800€, but chances are it will cost more.

I'm coming from a Asus VG248QE I got at release and I just got the PG278Q (The TN model) and it is darned gorgeous. I will be upgrading again to this monitor only because I really want to try IPS for once and I don't like the single DP connection on the PG278Q as I have multiple systems to connect.

This thing looks like it will be awesome sauce.

Damn only 120Hz on my 780 while the 960 can do 165Hz?! Shit...well I guess if I HAVE to upgrade...

Why only 120Hz for 700 series cards? My Titans seem to run up to the maximum 144Hz (with G-Sync enabled) on my Swift.

It doesn't make any sense since both the 700 and 900 series both use DP 1.2 so why the 120Hz cap on Kepler?

LOL

whatever, 120 hz is enough for me if combined with ULMB. keeping a corresponding frame rate at WQHD is the bigger challenge ATM.

either this PG279Q or acer's upcoming XB271HU.

my current XL2411Z is nicely blur-free, but i don't want 1080p any more, and especially not its bad colors and contrast, really makes a game different.

So 165Hz is an overclocked refresh rate as well. Is it also "non supported" and do so "at the end user's risk" like the Acer X34?

I would imagine something that is advertised as being so, would be covered under warranty should anything go awry when using it. But this is also Asus...
