I'm doing the finishing touches on this build, but I've currently got an issue with the EAX12V connector at the top of the motherboard. There is a little black cap that's covering the left 4 pins, while the right 4 pins are exposed. Now, my power supply manual says that if the motherboard wants a 4-pin connector, there is a 4-pin available, and if it want an 8-pin connector, there is also an 8-pin available. What I don't get is, am I supposed to take off the cap and use the full 8-pins (is the cap even removable? it seems a bit difficult to remove and I don't want to force it) or just stick the 4-pin from the PSU into the right 4 pins on the motherboard?

If your PSU has the 8Pin EPS12V connector, then yes remove the cap (which is removable). If your PSU doesn't have the 8Pin EPS12V connector (only a 4Pin P4 CPU connector), then no real need to remove the cap.
