Asus P4PE and P4 2.4C - Worthwile?

Hi guys -

I'm running my P4 2.53 @ 2.85, on an ASUS P4PE

I'm looking to upgrade the cpu - is it worth a go putting a P4 2.4C with 800MHz FSB into this mobo?

I have the BIOS upgrade necessary, so the board will support HT and the 800FSB.

Just wondering if I'm likely to break the 2.85GHz that this 2.53 is running at??? (At the moment I'm running 150FSB to get 2.85GHz and DDR 400).

My RAM is Corsair XMS3500, so higher ram speeds over 400 should be no prob.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Most 845 Series boards will struggle to do even an 800 FSB, which is well beyond what it was originally designed for. I think you will be lucky to ge tthe 2.4 running at stock speeds, and even luckier to oc at all.

I don't think you'd benefit from changing the CPUs.
