So I thought about building a HTPC and I'm wondering whether ASUS M2A-VM HDMI coupled with Athlon64 5200+ Windsor will play 1080p content. I'm from UK and I use www.scan.co.uk as my retailer of choice. Here http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=564799 they state that it "may not play 1080p content due to current version player limit". After googling I didn't find any other source to confirm this. What are your thoughts please?

That doesn't really apply much now with the new tweaks that AMD has made to it. 1080p should playback pretty smooth but even if it doesn't you just need to pick up a 8600/2600 for it.

This is only if you're playing back Blue Ray/HD DVD media though.

Many thanks for great article about 690G chipset. So 60% load while playing 1080p in H.264 combined with 5% load utilizing SATA still leaves some overhead....But no mention about Blu-ray/HD DVD media problems with "current version player" again. Wonder where scan get that info.....?
