I have the following:
SD36G5M
Pentium D 930
CORSAIR 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 (PC2 5300)
EVGA 8600GT SuperClocked
AuzenTech XPlosion 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Sound Card
300 Gig Hard Drive
Sony DVD-Rom
14 in 1 Card reader
Connecting to 65" Mits DLP and Onkyo 606.
I am looking to go to all HDMI for video and audio trying to find a suitable card that will:
a) fit in single slot of the SD36G5M (it's outer slot so no real extra room)
b) not overtax the 250W PSU
c) not melt it either
d) play most games at avg settings
e) take burden off CPU for BD/HD playback (pulled from WHS)
I was eyeing the new 4830s but the few that are available all have coolers that go outside the 1 slot range. The Asus EAH4850 from NewEgg will fit in the slot but length might be an issue (see http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121253 )
Id be moving out the Auzentech with this card, and probably the card reader as it is rarely used which should cut on power consumption.
Looking for suggestions and if the Asus 4850 is even close to being possible.
