If you're getting 100-110 just use the 100Hz LB mode.
Anyway, I've just installed Borderlands and I'm faced with a dilemma...
My PC can't do 120fps in the game... unless I'm looking at the ground. (even with shadows and occlusion disabled)
So I have to choose between:
1. 40-60 fps 3D
2. uncapped FPS 60-120 LB
3. uncapped FPS 60-120 no LB
4. capped fps 60 LB
5. capped fps 60 no LB
6. 60 hz
Now for drawbacks:
1. it's 3d, works great when it's 60fps, look horrible when it drops
2. inconsistent performance, various levels of blur
3. inconsistent performance, variance in blur not as noticeable
4. smooth performance, double image effect blur...
5. smooth performance, consistent smooth blur
6. uhh, smooth performance, high blur
I will probably go for 5 since I consider the double image effect to be worse.
What would you choose?
If you have PhysX enabled in the game, I noticed that turning it off or lower the settings will maintain a more consistent frame rate. I had PhysX set to "High" previously and I noticed my FPS would go from 120 to 60 very frequently. I thought I had turned on some FPS limit somewhere, but it was just my GPU spending more resources for PhysX than rendering the screen.
