I have 130 hours in AC Valhalla right now. But I have collected every wealth, artifact, and mystery along the way. You could easily beat it in maybe 60 hours.

I think that's a bit of an exaggeration, I think I finished WDL in about 50 or so, if that. I guess you *could* spend more time but I can't imagine spending 200-300 hours in that game.
I was referring to Assassins' Creed. I was over two hundred fifty when I finished Odyssey. I am sixty hours into Valhalla and feel like I am just getting started.

I finished the campaign and it looks like I got the "best/good" ending. I am sorry that's over. Wow, the twists sure came in and I find myself overall very impressed with this as an AC fan. I still have things to do if I want to start going OCD and all.

Officially cracked today. Might be great news for Linux gamers since Ubisoft will probably remove it from the game at some point from now.

^ Then in the meantime if anyone didn't know Stonehenge is in the game, well it is and graphically close to its real life beauty waiting to be explored. And where it should be west of Lunden in southwest England with its name on the map. Feel like a bonehead not knowing it's in the game until a couple days ago.

This game is far better than Odyssey, but more boring because of how mundane everything is. I'm finding it to be about as buggy as Cyberpunk 2077 in February. Which is annoying but doable. Except I've had more crashes in this game, and the save system sucks. If you're in the middle of a 20 minute raid and the game crashes you need to restart everything over again. I'm not sure why games in the early 2000s had quick saves but with bigger drives, SSDs, fast CPUs and more RAM that they can't figure it out.

Pretty much the same bugs Cyberpunk had. Lots of animation glitching and the like. Moderate amount of crashing.

I miss the myriad of question marks on the map and compass that Odyssey had. In a game that takes hundreds of hours not having them to get through quests and blue mysteries is annoying. I don't like having to go to Google constantly to quickly keep making progress with where to go for the mysteries.

They took bloated, hard to care about side quests and dumped them completely. For an open world game that is supposed to be 60-90 hours that is an odd choice. What we want are good sidequests that are impactful, fun, and make us care. Not boring repetitive ones or throwing them out completely.

The problem with the little mysteries is they are often unclear with what they want you to do and don't have things like objective markers or text. I've had more than a fair share where I was left thinking "what am I supposed to do?". At least you can finish them quickly. Problem is I think you need to do them otherwise you won't level nearly quick enough.

If only they followed an excellent ARPG that has amazing sidequests & DLC... *cough* The Witcher 3 *cough*

I personally prefer Odyssey as far as exploring goes since Valhalla blocks me on many occasions with the stupid door locks & lack of pathing.

How does the allegiance map work? "Committed" to another allegiance and it made a quest disappear. Reloaded the save and it is still there. Do I have to complete one region at a time? Can you make allegiances in all areas?

Crashes have been getting a bit worse overall as I progress. Sometimes I go many hours without a crash other times I get them around an hour apart. Any particular thing that can help with crashing aside from waiting for a patch?

I save every 5 minutes or so now. Think I had only 1 crash in the past 4-5 hours of gameplay but that is still too many. It is playable but gets annoying. I'm finding Cyberpunk's February builds to be more stable than this game overall.

I put 100 hours into it and had maybe 5 total crashes (on older builds of the game...pre-River raid)....<shrug>

Must be certain areas of the map. I haven't had a crash in 8-10 hours.

Does every region of the map have story related content? This game is long, even longer than I thought. I don't do every single mystery or find every crate but clear most of them in each region. And I still have 8-9 left.

Yes. After you pledge to the region you have a set of quests culminating with a battle usually. Some are better than others and some are longer than others.

I think I am going to start ignoring the mysteries and just do the main story quests.

Some of them are interesting. Most of them are not. I only did them to satisfy my OCD. You do get some experience though which does help to level up your character.

Same. This game is far too long. It makes Witcher 3 and Odyssey seem focused. It drags on forever. I just want to get to the end and see how it wraps up. At this point there are so many repeated missions/scenarios it feels like even the story missions are copy and pasted. I've dealt with three young, inexperienced, and tame rulers and helped them rise to power in three different regions. The stories are all so similar at this point and the game is talking about characters as if we'd seen them in game before. Well I probably have, but there are so many people and scenarios that are exactly the same I probably can't remember.

Edit: Spoke too soon. Now I've had 3-4 crashes in around 2 hours.

I finished the game and the free dlc and I have to wonder why I stuck with it. I had some fun with it but it really is forgettable. Unless they bring something new like black flag did at the time, I don't see my self playing the next one.

One thing I like about Valhalla compared to Odyssey is that you can use "all" of your abilities and upgrades at one time, with only needing to slot the "super/special attacks". All of those mysteries, wealth and artifacts go towards unlocking skill points in an ENORMOUS skill tree (among other rewards like resources) and the vast majority of them are passive and permanent, without me ever having to either "run out" of points/space where I can't do a double / critical assassination , use the predator bow where I can manually control the arrow, or have to give stealth-only abilities space in a combat deck etc. You just keep branching out in the skill tree into near perpetuity unlocking more and more stuff which is all simultaneously usable except for the active super/special abilities - you stiill have a "ranged special ability" and "melee special ability" deck, but everything else is slipstreamed in and works together. Looking at some of the "big" unlocks yet to come are neat, like being able to dual wield 2H weapons. Its a bit like the looked at the best of Origins and Odyssey while refining them both, which is neat.

I'm still pretty early on because the way I end up playing these games is often trying to do every nearby point of interest in a given area as I do larger story quests/unlocks, but I'm having a good time overall. I am a bit curious about which equipment is worth upgrading and using the relatively rare upgrade resources to make a big "class upgrade" (ie that changes the rarity color of the equipment, big stat changes, sockets for gems, unlock a new tier of small upgrades, and often its aesthetics as well; I really like that the looks of things upgrade too as that's one of the little features for which I'm a stickler) while the smaller "rank upgrades" use more common materials and just bolster stats. I'm always wondering if I should buy the cheap-ish gray stuff and level it up, or if there will be higher end starting gear that will - even if I upgraded both to Legendary or whatever is the highest golden color, - end up being better.

There's lots of different types of weaponry to try out and combinations which are done VERY well - you can even dual shield if you wish! I'm still figuring out what's worth using - so far I'm only in Leicester and haven't gone to the other beginner area Grantsbridge yet, and have been sticking to mostly dual wielding Eivor's father's 1H axe and either another 1H axe in the offhand or a shield as needed. I have a few other things now - a spear, mace/morning star, 2H sword etc... but i'm not sure which are worth upgrading if any, yet. Likewise, I'm not sure about wandering around and doing the open world content - is there a benefit to "raiding" and calling in your vikings any particular location? Or is it only for the marked "raid" locations? Or is it better to sneak in, or handle it all yourself etc.. ? Not sure if the rewards differ depending on which you do, but I've not yet unlocked the free DLC "river raiding" expansion and that's probably a lot of things. Still in the early part of building my settlement too - I'll check it out again once I "clear" Leichester main storyline and possibly as much of its POIs as available. Still, having a pretty good time!

The crashing is pissing me off. How can you not know how to implement a quick save in 2020? Would have made it so much more bearable. I can't seem to figure out what makes the game crash.

To kick you out of 30-40 minutes of gameplay for no fucking reason when quick saves existed in the 1990s isn't excusable anymore.

The game does have a quick save feature, if you're on controller hold down on the D-pad and press X (or the equivalent on your controller)

Yeah but it doesn't save anytime you're in a red zone which makes it practically worthless. Those are the longest sections of the game, especially if you're playing stealth. Best "work around" I can think of is running out of the area every few minutes to save but that is a pain.

Yeah this game is the most "unfriendly-to-stealth" AC to date. At least with the previous couple of titles, even though they were blatantly trying to be "witcher3-lite" the map layouts were still stealthable most of the time. Looking at most of the levels' design in this title they didn't give a rats ass about stealth. It's no longer Assassin's Creed but Generic Action Game Creed.

It's still fun, and there are some completely stealthable areas, but they are clearly moving the franchise away from its roots, towards a more button action style button mash friendly system.

Most of my crashing issues were due to an unstable memory OC. It was fine in Windows, etc., but in games occasionally it would crash. I had to back off slightly.

With Odyssey the game wasn't stealth, but they punished you for playing stealth. In this game they offer it but it is even worse than Odyssey but at least they don't punish you for playing stealthily. So in an odd way, this is better.

Wish they'd go back to Syndicate where the missions had unique assassinations Hitman style. Despite a weak story and horribly repeating side quests, the main missions in the game were fairly good.
