Assassin's Creed Shadows

I wonder who the Templars are? Those people on the bottom, I guess?
those look like they would be local warlord, possibly controlled by templars. but the jesuits being the templars would make most sense imo. not sure if ive seen anything about them(templars).
notice how small they made yasuke, and hid his face? odd eh?

strange poster...looks like they are trying to hide the main character while surrounding him with Japanese characters...almost like they are trying to put the focus on the Japan setting during the Sengoku time period and less on the controversial Yasuke, an African samurai inspired by the historical figure of the same name

LOL

It looks like the Templars are on the bottom and the ‘good guys’ are surrounding the two player characters… but I’ll bet that one of the ‘good guys’ turns out to be a Templar.

If I had to guess…

Looks like previews coming next week.

Some takeaways.

1. No modern day elements at all aside from text-based lore in Animus Hub.
2. No mythical/isu elements. Back to Origins gameplay, the game is effectively a ninja/samurai simulator. Ubisoft is lucky there are no other games competing in this genre *cough cough*.
3. One of the previewers mentioned viewpoints had to be synced with each character (so, twice total).
4. A couple mentioned Yasuke feels useless because Naoe can fulfill his role in combat, whereas he cannot parkour. Yasuke does has higher defensive stats, though.

Best case scenario: playing as Naoe makes the game feel like an open-world Thief set in feudal Japan.

The hub idea sounds as bad as I thought it would. You launch into a hub, then launch into the game. Just makes it take longer to get in game, a more cumbersome menu, and less organic implementation of the modern day stuff/lore. It also makes it feel more like a product/service and less immersive. I know they're doing this as it is also a store and a way to sell things.

It was difficult to watch some of the previews because I felt I was seeing too much and spoiling myself.

For me, the main draw of the Assassin’s Creed games is exploring their open worlds. The thing that sets these open worlds apart from most others is the staggering detail.

Having watched these previews, it was impossible not to think of Ghost of Tsushima, which is slightly older, of course, but now seems almost empty in comparison to Shadows.

The previews worked because I’m much more excited about this game now.

Not really. There are some things I do pre order due to various reasons. For this one I got the Intel bundle offer for discount. For Dragon Age I also got 20% off and had to pre order since it wasn’t available in my region. Not sure what else I pre ordered but these two are the ones I remember. Also FF16 I pre ordered as it was not available in my region and I was in US. Outlaws also I got a code for 35 bucks or something.

Right now I am trying to pre order a 5090. 👀

Damn lol. Well after Veil guard I am not too bothered. I know I will enjoy the game. I couldn't care less if a dude is black or white. Plus I made up my mind based on the video I saw rather than what the reviewer was saying/doing etc. For 35 bucks that I paid, it's not that big of a deal especially when I am still willing to pay 400$ over MSRP for a graphics card that is only 30% faster than what I have presently (that also in a good case scenario as my card is already overclocked and stuff).

Which is the reason people should subscribe to Karak at ACG on YouTube.

He doesn’t do sponsorship, period. He won’t even accept invites to travel and stay for free in hotels to do previews. He pays for every game he reviews.

He played Shadows, btw, and enjoyed his time with it much more than he thought he would.

If he doesn't do sponsorships, then why was he at the same invitational event hosted by Ubisoft that the above articles are talking about? He isn't following the same script, but still hits similar talking points.

He doesn’t accept money from advertisers, period.

He made it clear in the video preview that his time spent with the game was done remotely. He won’t accept gifts of any kind, including free hotel accommodation and travel.

A preview of a game is just that, a preview. It’s not a sponsorship. He’s not getting paid anything for this. He’s doing it to inform his viewers of upcoming games.

Eventually, he’ll review the game. The review will be based on a complete playthrough of the game. He’ll pay for his own copy with his own money.

There is zero shilling going on here. He’s one of the only people on YouTube who’s completely clean.

Like the rifle on his back clipping through the helmet 😄
I mean i honestly feel that is a lot more immersion breaking than out of season fruit on a fruit stand IMO. And cosmetic clipping has been an issue forever and no one seems to really resolve it.

More like out of era/period fruit...
