I'm picking up this exact card used off of FB marketplace tomorrow for $475.
You really can't turn the stupid fan light off? Cause I strongly dislike RGB...I don't want lights in my case.

Nice deal, closer to the price these should have been now. I know I love my 6900XT, does everything I want.

I've been considering going all-AMD. Would this be considered an upgrade over a 3080 10GB?

From what I remember reading, it would be an upgrade in terms of raster performance but not ray tracing. Someone else please correct me if I'm wrong. Should be easy to find some sweet benchies in a 6900XT review to confirm it.

That's what I understand as well. I don't know if I care much about ray tracing just yet. I know when I turn it on for shadows in WoW my FPS takes a performance hit. Also, for the record, I play at 2K.

Yes it would be faster then the 3080, especially if you consider overclocking. It will just be weaker with ray tracing.
I'm just wondering to myself if it would be worth it to switch over. My current 3080 is watercooled but I have been considering going back to air.

First off I'm not sure why you just didn't go look at least one or two of the countless reviews to see how a 3080 compares to the 6900xt. And why on earth would you want to fool with switching to another current gen card when next gen cards will be out in a few months? And with your card being water cooled that would even make it more of a pain in the ass to fool with.

I have but I also like to hear personal opinions of nice people who take a moment to reply with their experiences.

I'm sure you're aware the prices for "current gen" cards will likely go back up as "next gen" cards release and then both will be difficult to acquire again. There are no guarantees how long that might take.

Exactly but I was already considering going back to air because of the maintenance involved with watercooling, so that is part of the decision-making process. I have in the past sold old cards with waterblocks attached as well as converted them back to air to sell. It's not that big of a deal when you're [H]ard.

I appreciate your input.

Guessing because the 6900XT seems like such a deal at this price. But yes, if it were me and I had a 3080, I'd probably just wait and hope that the next gen of cards is easier to get now that miners have largely abandoned the game. I read rumors that the 4070 could possibly rival the 3090Ti...if that is true, I'd definitely wait.

On the rumors, there has never been a time when the improvements were THAT big, but this could be the first. These cards came out in 2020 and it's now 2022 and there is finally normal pricing now that next gen is so close. If history repeats itself (and it is very likely due to continuing supply chain issues) it may be 2024 before we get our hands on 4000-series NVIDIA or 7000-series AMD and not have to pay double. (Although I was pretty lucky the last two years and was able to nab several 3080s and a 3070 at retail.)

3070 is supposedly equal to the 2080 Ti. Unfortunately, the only Turing faster than the 1080 Ti was the 2080 Ti at twice the price.

Yup, I remember, and in hindsight I would've liked to have skipped the 2080 Ti. I hope they don't do that to us again with the pricing.

Ownt, lol

This comment was [H]ard as fuck.
Thank ya, brother!

I do want to thank the OP for this deal which is spectacular, but I think after pondering this a while and listening to everyone's comments, I'll stick with my 3080 and take my chances next year, or the year after, or the year after that, or..... ;)

That's the best choice. You would just be throwing away money at that point. At 2560x1440 your 3080 should be able to handle every game at max settings. If not, then utilizing DLSS. You're better off waiting for next gen.
