Hey guys, I was wondering if someone might have any suggestions for me. I have tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling the client. When you type folding@home-win32-x86 to run the client, it freezes after it reads the # of cores which says 4 cores detected for my P2 965

After reinstalling and running the install.bat file again, it freezes for a long time and eventually gives me this error. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on this rig. I just went on a Steam spending spree and figured i'd use my spare CPU cycles to fold as it is going to be downloading games for a VERY long time on my slow 7mbps internet connection.

Here is the error message when trying to run the install

Yes

Before I got my dedicated folding rig, I was folding SMP stuff for a while just fine on my gaming rig. I just don't understand why it would all of a sudden stop working.

go to your windows firewall settings and create an exception for port 8676

Have you disabled UAC r its win7 equivelent??
It could also be a case of the steam downloads interfering with the install. try pausing the download for a while and trying again.
Another one would be new AV software???

I've been running the x64 version of NOD32 Internet Security on my gaming rig since day one, and thus it handles my firewall stuff. I did try shutting Steam down but that didn't change anything. When I disabled my NOD32 firewall, all of a sudden it allowed me to run the install.bat file to set it up again. I find this very odd considering that it never interfered with the folding client before.

However I guess I won't run any work units at this time. My computer room has the window unit running on full blast and the room temp is already in the 80's.

Thanks guys. BTW what is UAC? The only thing I see for Windows 7 is something called Windows Defender. I have it disabled because it does some seriously pesky things like try to scan your computer in the middle of a game.

User Account Control, a popup from windows when an .exe runs

win7 is pretty good at managing the amount of them to not get annoying
