Are there cheap but powerful windows tablets?

Does such a thing exist? I see tablets with low power dual core chips costing a bunch of money, and then I see the ones with the powerful chips costing a TON of money, $3k+. How is it that to get a tablet that is as powerful as a $900 laptop, I need to spend 4x as much?
 
I do see the XPS 15 with the 8305G i5. That seems to be pretty good bang for your buck as far as 2 in 1s go. Was really looking for detachable keyboard though.
 
The cooling and engineering of a tablet with performance and battery life has to be top tier top binning hardware in order to live comfortable in that kind of Chassis. That sort of hardware comes with a price premium. (Also because the likelyhood of needing repair is higher and more costly.)
