Make fun of the iPhone 6's crappy design, camera bulge and 2012 features all you want, both versions of the phone sold a combined total of 10 million units this weekend. Wow.

Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus broke yet another record. The company said on Monday that its first weekend sales topped 10 million. It didn't break out sales between the two models, with the iPhone 6 Plus a much harder device to find over the last three days.

Apple Zombies are still a formidable drone force.

oh come on... iPhone is a decent device. Not everyone needs tons of customization and the iOS app ecosystem is currently the front runner.

Its got a good camera, battery life, and performance... anything beyond that is just nitpicking.

At least with this iteration their customers get improved screen size and options vs Steve Jobs telling people what size is right for them.

Whimp more. Android phones suck and are royally unsafe like it or not.
This is as bad as the against Windows argument... If you can't use your device and keep it secure, you probably shouldn't be using the device (which is why you are probably an Apple user). If you want to pay for it, you can be babied by Apple.

Got my wife the iPhone 6 on launch day, she had an iPhone 5S, she says its a definite improvement over the 5S and battery life along with camera have improved. She did say that the iPhone 6 now looks more like an android device, she wasn't to happy about that, but she overall likes the phone.

I hate to break it to him (or not) but Apple is not known for its highly secured a anything. I can't believe just how ignorant that statement was.

If this was actually your reasoning for Apple then you'd be using a Windows phone. Better battery life, better camera, better performance.

It's okay to say you bought it because everyone else did. We won't judge... much

there's at least a shred more originality present in an individual when they purchase and use something new versus relishing in the same tired drone/sheep/zombie bait in all the familiar places. ;)

Must be awesome to be able to poop out two year old tech and still have people line up and pay out their asses for one.

Be interesting to remove the logo from the latest Samsung and airbrush an Apple logo on the back, and see what people on the street say about it! ;)

I am sick of the fanboy shit, yes the phone's technology is at least 2 years behind but overall the phone is a nice improvement of the 5s. My work let me upgrade to the 6 and overall I like the phone, battery life is noticeably better.

Too bad Steve Jobs had to be dead for 3 years for Apphole to put out a device the consumer really wanted.

The SoC in the 6 is markedly better mobile SoC than anything offered in an android.

oh come off it guys. You're all acting like Apple is the only company with fanboys.

Good for Apple on this news. It goes to show that even after 2 generations of iPhones and iPads, the death of Steve Jobs didn't turn out to be the doomsday for Apple that some predicted.

Not sure what they were thinking with the iWatch though. You won't catch me wearing one just as with the Galaxy Gear.

The sheep will keep doing what the sheep keep doing.

There's no trying to convince them. Just let them do their thing, and keep enjoying the fact that you know better :p

I like the iphone but would I still have to deal with that Itunes bullshit? That's one of the reasons I sold my 3gs.

I personally don't buy Apple anything (have a HTC One m7 ATM).

The bottom line is Apple products are capable devices, they get the job done for most people (just like android). In some cases I would say they are more tailored to the common consumer.

So they don't suck, just like with anything one brand may be more tailored to your use but that doesn't mean other brands suxors.

And by "Common Consumer" you mean "uninformed consumer", as in uninformed about technology.

These iphone/android/etc arguments are stupid and just as juvenile as the xbox/playstation & NVidia/AMD BS. Grow up and realize that different people may like different devices.

Curious, does it have an sd card reader yet?

No, and I doubt that will been an option anytime soon on any iDevice as storage capacity is the primary price differentiator Apple uses for their mobile devices.

Congrats to Apple. The iPhone is simply the most desirable piece of consumer tech on the planet right now and it's never been about top end features. Heck, even lowly Windows Phones have had 1080P screens, phablet sizes, SD expansion and NFC support for sometime. Tech folks will make a big deal about these things but for the vast majority of phone users, they aren't that important. My guess is that a large majority of Android devices that have SD card slots never have the owner installing one.

The iPhone is simply part of our culture now. It's the gold standard of consumer technology, the thing that captures minds and opens wallets. A top notch ecosystem for the iPhone exists for it and while it's market share has shrunk considerably since the emergence of Android, iOS still gets top tier app support. And that's what it's all about on mobile now, apps.

It's not for me, but I do have to add that they have done some nice things on the software side.

The seamless transition between voip and cell voice calls is not currently present anywhere else (I use google voice on my phone when I am somewhere where there is wifi but poor signal) but it is not quite as seamless.

Other than that, I don't see any advantage with this phone compared to whats already on the market in the Android camp. The hardware is very 2012 as noted.

The "use your phones NFC to pay" is hardly a unique concept, and I'm sure they are violating a number of smaller companies patents on that one, but truth is no one else has succeeded, and Apple might be able to simply based on them bringing a large enough user base to the table to entice businesses to use it.

it's too bad that they are making this a closed standard though. What apple doesn't seem to understand is that systems like these are best when they are open standards. Then they get adopted, everyone can use them, and they benefit everyone. As long qs they remain closed, they will always have less adoption.

Is a shopkeeper really going to get one payment system for Apple users, one for Samsung users, one for LG users, one generic Google system, etc. etc?

No, for some things we just need ROYALTY FREE, PATENT FREE industry standards, just like on the PC side of things.

I agree, there needs to be a line drawn in terms of industry standards and patents as the lawsuits crap of Apple and Samsung has been annoying to read about.

To all the people who say Android had it in 2012:

Granted, I use an Android phone (used to the interface, and iPhones are expensive), but anyone who thinks iPhones are purely bought on marketing/hype merits (e.g. post #2) and not on any technical merits are kidding themselves.

You talking about iOS users or the Android fanboy's with fragile egos trying to justify their purchase in every Apple thread? ;)

Oh come on? You don't like being spied and 100% tracked and logged by Google and the NSA?

Its safe to say that is probably happening with every phone manufacturer. Or are you going to go all phan boy and deny it with Apple?

Obvious all of them.

But I'd trust Apple over Google quite a bit more.

Still hate them all though.

Bingo!

It's a nice smart phone, but forcefully making us use iTunes to manage our content, no thanks!

When they add the ability to manage our content without iTunes, change the default applications and customize the UI, I will consider purchasing another iPhone.
