If this is to be believed, Apple terminated an app for locating lost AirPods because they didn’t like the “concept” of people being able to find them. The fruit company charges $69 for any AirPod that goes missing. Thanks to Master_shake_ for this story.

…the iPhone maker…has just pulled ‘Finder for AirPods’ from its app store. The clever application uses Bluetooth signal strength from a lost AirPod to help guide an owner to its position using a hotter/colder system. It isn't able to find a bud that fell out of your ear while jogging 5 miles away from home but can locate one within a house or the close vicinity. Owners welcomed the $3.99 app, which solved one of the biggest problems associated with Apple’s tiny devices: the fact they’re easy to lose. But just a few days after release, Apple pulled Finder for AirPods from the store.

That makes good business sense for a company wanting to maximize profits, but is absolutely bad for apple customers. Glad im not one of them. Greedy bast*$ds !!

Now if this person were to charge $79, apple wouldn't see any problems, except apple would limit using the app for one time, and then you would be told you have to pay for a renewal of the app again.

    Here's another case of #FakeNews.

The biggest problem with the pods is how completely ridiculous you look when wearing them. Loosing them is just a bonus.

This kills even the smallest thought I've had of ever buying these Airpods.

Personally i'm happy with the iPhone 7 Plus I am using. Been lifelong Android user and it's quite nice, and I never use headphones personally only on very rare occasions. Only time I use headphones for every time is when going to the gym.

Also no matter what happens, I can always count on you guys to go full retard at the mere mention of Apple.

It's not the loss of the AirBuds, it's that the app to find them was removed is the issue. For those that didn't like AirBud or the puppies. I mean, some people lose them. So, you wouldn't buy this app if you don't lose them. Simple. You probably wouldn't buy a 15" dildo, either. No use for it.

I like my iPhone 6S. I don't like the 7. I gain nothing and lose the headphone jack which I do use regularly lately.

If they were developing their own app for this then they definatly would do this to the guy.

We don't like the concept because you beat us to it at a cheaper price than we were going to charge, but it's our store so go "*#+!" Yourself.

    Yeah, that could never happen....

First of all they're called AirPods, so I mean thumbs up for getting that wrong.

Second if you have a problem with losing 15" dildos this product isn't for you, since I have no idea why you brought that up.

I also have no issues with puppies and have never lost one.

Knee jerk reactions are fun, especially when Apple is rumored to be rolling this into find my iPhone. Man they should axe that program to sell more phones. Genius!

AirBud is a dog. He played basketball. Then, in AirBud 2, be had puppies.

If you don't have a problem losing AirBuds (I like that name better), then this product isn't for you. Therefore, the dildo comparison worked. I just wish I could find that damn thing. I thought I set it on my chair....

Puppies. I think they lost one in AirBud 7. Maybe it was AirBud 9: dogs in space.

Not just genius. Magical. It takes a lot of courage, too.

Airpod finder dongle will be released soon. $399, there is a 17 mile line of sheep already camping out. Local Starbucks has made billions in a single day. One local entrepreneur has set up a stand to sell large frame glasses without lenses outside of the pre-order line, he is already valued at 850 million.

Almost as much courage as it takes to hop on your guys high horse.

I don't watch shitty movies so I must have missed the stupid reference.

This product is being rolled into find my iPhone but you ignored that conveniently.

Back to robble robble robbling for you guys though.

You may have a point. Apple could be going through a Bankrupt of New Idea phase. Especially if a bean counter sees a $3.99 app as a threat to the apple kingdom.

So, it's cool that Apple told this guy to fuck off because they hate competition?

BTW - don't take posts so serious, man. I haven't even watched Air Bud yet.

So because they're rolling it into the Find My The Apple Phone utility, no software that has the same functionality is allowed to exist?

    Fuck these Apple Nazis.

    LOL

I get it, it's because I don't have kids three things have happened

    1) I don't watch shitty movies about dogs playing sports
    2) I don't lose AirPods
    3) I have enough disposable income to buy an AirPod if I lose them.

I'll let you guys get back to masturbating to the hateful tears against Apple. Echoooooooooo.

    1) Ever watch G-Force? Guinea pigs. :)
    2) Hard to find good wireless headphones... I wouldn't lose them, either.
    3) Neither do I. So, I make sure mine have a wire.

    4) I like my Apple stuff. Great products. However, I find their newer products to lack in innovation and excitement. I have zero reason to upgrade my iPhone 6S Plus. There is nothing with the new iPhone that makes me want it. iPad? Yea, I need a new one. Bad. I have the iPad 3 (New iPad) and it's dog slow. Wife had an iPad Air that I love. iPod Nano. I take that thing everywhere. It's great.

I don't like Apple as a company, nor do I like Tim Cook (didn't care for Steve Jobs, either). So, yea. Fuck Apple, man! Echooooooooo. (You're an idiot!)... (another movie reference you might not get!).

I'll follow along and not the read article and just speculate.

So I will say that it's because they didn't want people being able to use an iPhone as a metal detector to find other people's air pods or whatever else it can track. Maybe people leave these in a desk or backpack and someone just walks around with their phone in sniff mode.

Apple does have Find My Phone, but it is a secure application. What security did this app offer?

I think it's time we removed all ports from devices. I mean fuck who needs cables for data and shit when we have wireless everything. Cabled headphones just work too reliably/get in the way.
Calling it. Iphone 10 or some shit, no cables.

The real story is why the fan bois keep buying the overpriced over-controlled gear from "Apple, in Cupertino". Morons be morons. And what's the deal with BT as a transmission for audio? Does no one understand its another layer of compression and if you have any discernment it sounds like ass.

I think the real reason is Apple's refusal to ever acknowledge when there's a problem. Phone loses reception because of bad antenna design? You're holding it wrong. Weird dots or discoloration appearing in camera images? You're wrong. Phones are bending? No they're not, it's your imagination.

Tiny, easy-to-lose devices are prone to getting lost? No they're not… let's just remove this here app and make the visibility of the problem go away.

It's not cool, but it's not unexpected either. Apple owns the store, they're not going to let you sell something that directly competes with their own future offering.

Makes sense, as anyone who actually spends that much money on those dungpods is basically hanging a sign on their head that says "I love to be ripped off, feel free to overcharge me for anything you want".

The rest of us are still enjoying our superior experience using real headphones that plug into an actual headphone port.

Wouldn't that require them to give their users wireless charging? A feature that has matured elsewhere, yet strangely absent on their phones? Best way to force the sale of those proprietary dongles and charging pads, remove the ports! Need to access the phone without a Mac? Gotta buy our proprietary Bluetooth "deluxe speed" adapter!

I've made the comparison before, but Apple and GoPro seem to be going through the same cycle and handling it the same way.

    - Bring out something new. Set the market price high as the premium brand.
    - Develop a strong proprietary accessory/app ecosystem around that new thing.
    - ... coast on residuals
    - Realize you're being passed by cheaper products with more innovation. Don't care, we're the super premium brand.
    - See profits shrink.
    - Throw a fit. Realize you haven't created anything new in years. Start throwing random shit at the product line. Play catch-up.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Apple come out with an iDrone, since they seem to be two years late to the party.
