Well, I'm officialy torn between two laptops now, and figured you guys could help me out. Basically, I'm torn between getting the Sager 4080 laptop, or custom-building a notebook using the AOpen 1557 chassis as a base.

Configuration:

Sager 4080

15" SXGA+ LCD (High Contrast/Glossy)
2.8GHz P4 (800MHz FSB w/ HT)
512MB PC3200 Single DIMM
Mobile Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo 128MB
40GB 4200rpm HDD
8x DVD-ROM / 24x10x24 CD-RW
802.11g PCMCIA network card
$1607.00 USD

AOpen 1557-GL

15" SXGA+ LCD
1.5GHz Pentium-M
512MB PC2700 Single DIMM
Mobile Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB
Fujitsu 40GB 4200rpm HDD
8x DVD-ROM / 24x10/24 CD-RW
Linksys 802.11g PCMCIA network card
$1629 USD (price changed since I forgot about the RAM)

Battery life is not a concern for me, since I'll have the machine plugged in virtually all the time (I won't really be mobile with the computer at all). This machine is basically going to be used as a desktop replacement, so weight isn't even an issue (to a point -- I don't want a 10 pound machine).

Also, I'll probably be doing some minor upgrades such as the move to a 60GB 5400rpm hard drive.
