Anywhere to buy LED "Light Bars"

Hi

I want to create a 4 to 5 inch long bar of light. What I mean by light-bar is a piece of plastic that is illuminated by an LED on one side and it distributes the light over some shape.

I figure generic shapes are available somewhere but I have not found anything. I see these built into a lot of products but never available separately.

I suppose I could make my own by cutting plexiglass or something, but I'd rather buy if I can find such things.

Find your local modeler / craft shop. They'll have plexi rods and square extrusions in many sizes, usually from a company named Plastruct. http://www.plastruct.com/
Just cut to length and drill into the end to bury an LED in it and you'll have what you want. Or deliberately 'fog' the plex with a 400- or 320-grit wetsanding to make the lighting effect more even or muted.
 
That plastruct is exactly what I'm lookng for.

Quite a catalog they have. Maybe I'll add a few girders and model fuel tanks to my PC while I'm at it. ;)
