Anything like virtualdub for linux?

Are there any good really easy to use gui video compression programs for linux like virtual dub for windows?

Not that I've found, unfortunately. Is the goal more the recompression stuff, or the trimming/capturing stuff? I've found mencoder works for the first, and I haven't really found anything for the second.

How about this ? I never used it, but it looks like something you might be looking for.

avidemux2 works ok, but I've had issues with it crashing.

mencoder works best but has a steep learning curve.
