A friend of mine just pointed me to the Lian Li PC-343B case, and it looks amazing. It struck me as the perfect alternative to a rackmount server unit, like the Norco 4000 series.

Since the external bays seem to be 5.25", I"m not sure how practical it is to house multiple 3.5" HDDs. Anyone have this case and can comment on its real versatility? I'd love to know what you've stuffed into (I'd like to do a huge gigabit switch).

You can mount hdds in 5,25'' bays using simple adapters. As for the case, it is pretty old model, so some features are bit "outdated" like some 80mm fan holes, no cable management, nor any rubber grommets, interior isn't anodized black either (that is rare even in new Lian Li cases). Overall it is very nice looking case, but would be easier to use with multiple hdds, with 3rd party hot swap devices used in 5,25'' bays. A similar case type with much more features would be custom Caselabs (M8 for example): http://www.caselabs-store.com/magnum-m8-case/
