I got one when I was about 7 years old. It pretty much dominated my early childhood.

Last night I finally got a good C64 emulator to work flawlessly, all the bugs worked out and everything. I even hooked up my playstation gamepad to my PC, and am able to use that for the game..
Everything works great.

I was playing this game for hours last night:
c64-st.jpg

Also, "Raid on Bungalow Bay". "Raid over Mosocow", and "Beach head" were good ones.. And who can forget "Mail Order Monsters"?

I LUHHH DAT SHIT!

Anyone else?

heh, I just realized I have a 3.2ghz system with an ATI 9800pro, and THESE are the games I was playing.. hahahah

I never had a c64 but my friend did. We used to play Howard the Duck on that thing alot. Fun times.

I had a C64, got one when they were introduced.

Never seen that game though.

my family got one when i was like 4 or 5. didn't get to mess around with it until i got older. main games i played were fort apocalypse, kikstart 1 & 2, and action biker...all of em great games.

best system ever, that and the commodore 128! ghostbuster, gi joe, transformers, gauntlet com'on man! i still remember the load codes load 8,1 "*" go, o yea

only 50fps? better upgrade the video card there wussy boy! i hear that super mario bros is gonna require a mammoth 128k memory and scorching 2mhz processor!!!! ;) :p

I used to own a Commie64 - loved it! The music rocked. It had some great shoot 'em ups, like Armalyte, Katakis. A bunch of us used to play this one skating game a lot and we'd be up all night playing it, seeing who could win - darn I can't remember the name of it now...

BeachHead was cool, but come on...the greatest ever was

load "f-15 strike eagle",8,1

http://www.lemon64.com/covers/details.php?gameID=873&ID=524

I can't begin to imagine how many times I typed that...then went somewhere else for 15 minutes while it loaded off of my 5 1/4" floppy.

Oh, and Farmer's Daughter kicked ass too. Text based porn-venture game where you had to sneak around the house and try to screw the farmer's daughter without getting, um, your anal cherry taken by her two brothers. :D

Also, "Raid on Bungalow Bay".

BungLING Bay.

I had a C64 in the mid 80's, it was fantastic. I got a C128 later on, and I ran a BBS for a time on it too. I remember getting a 128k RAM expansion card and my friend resoldered 512k chips on it. WOW SO MUCH SPACE!

That was back in the day when I met this guy in high school and we traded shoeboxes stuffed with games on 5.25" discs (OMG WAREZ). I also played Modem Wars, which was 1988's version of a Real-Time Strategy. It was truly fantastic.

I liked Racing Destruction Set alot.

i had one when i was about 6 or 7....cant even remember the names of the games i used to play. (have a picture of me about 2 foot high standing on a chair typing away, on the first day my parents bought it, funny as hell)

one game i remeber, you were this wierd alien frog-like thing and you had to climb a tower. you jumped from platform to platform like a spiral staircase. you charactor would stay in the middle of the screen and the actual tower would spin when you jumped.
i think it was tower of nebulus or something?
anyone remember?

and i also used to play this wicked fighter jet game.. but i couldnt be bothered trying to explain what it looked like other than the ground was a 3d grid made up of blue or green or brown squares.

UPDATE:
hehe just went through that 'lemon' site....so many old games i used to play when i was a kid *LOL*
Action biker, Afterburner, Battlechess, Blasteroids, Block-out, Bombjack, Buggy-boy, California Games, The list goes on and on and on!

The jet game i was talking about was ATF:Advance Tactical Fighter, Blasteroids

I think i even had the barbie game,..... :p

I thin it was just called Nebulus.

gunship and ultima 4 were my all time favs. gunship made me almost go into the military :). still have my c64, external floppy, and dot matrix printer. cant wait for it to go antique, lol.

Racing Destruction set rocked the house.. I was playing that last night..

Along with AcroJet, Raid on Moscow, Crossroads, World Games, Pooyan, Test Drive, Caveman Ugh-lympics and some others..

I love my C64. I think I still have it at my parent's in their garage.

Maybe I should set it up one day and mess around on it.

Beach Head, heh..

"Medic!"

Legacy of the Ancients is still one of my all time favorites.

Beach Head, Spy Hunter and pitfall were my shit on the C64 ...

ahhh the memories ... :)

Another old-schooler here :)

C64... sigh... best gaming EVER!!

So many great games... Impossible Mission was one of my favorites.

"Stay a while, stay forever!!!" :D

MY HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED!!!

i had a Vic-20 that i talked my parents into and i also had to
beg and plead for them to spend the extra $90 for the 16k
memory expansion! (thats right 16k) lol

it had the commodore cassette recorder for backing up all that
cool 'basic' language programs i modified! lol

its amazing that was just 22 years ago

to bad i wasnt smart enough at the time to spend a few
grand and buy some stock in a small company named microsoft!

parts and prices sure have changed! wasnt all that long ago
i paid $400 for a 4 gig hard drive, and that was a smoken deal!
and now you can almost build a whole system for that price!

Aint technology great! :D

That picture of Hey Taxi is horrible.

I have a C128/C64 and have thousands of games and I know that the Taxi game has much better graphics than that!

Aw shit, I forgot about Gunship. Amazing game.

The piracy protection on it was that before the game started you had to identify a "graphic" of some modern piece of equipment, like a T-80, BMP, ZSU-23, or an M-2. The only way to tell what the lines were supposed to be was by comparing them to the pictures in the manual. No manual, no game.

Of course a xerox could have taken care of that, but it was an interesting concept.

lol...I did a little research online and of course you are right for both...that IS it and my memory must be fading. :D

Oh, and it is 20 years now...it came out in 1984!

Of course there were lots of great games for it, but one really stood out above the rest for me:

ARCHON

i didn't have one, but a friend did for a short time. was too young and had too short of an attention span then to look at basic, but i remember f15 strike eagle and gunship well:cool:

A hearty "hell yeah" from another old-timer who had a C64 :D

The "electric typewriter" was the original 64. The slimline version was a later model, the C64c, IIRC.

I had a huge pile of games for my 64, along with a c2n tape deck, 1541 fdd, an mps801 dot-matrix printer, and an "Action Replay" utility cartridge which added a load of great extra features.

Games wise, the classics in my collection I remember with greatest fondness are these. Some are a bit obscure!

Last Ninja 2 & 3 and Vendetta
Project Stealth Fighter & Airbourne Ranger
Skate or Die
Turrican 2
Infiltrator 1 & 2
Mean Streak
PitStop 2
Kikstart 1 & 2
Outrun, Turbo Outrun & TurboCharge
Impossible Mission 1 & 2
Creatures & Critters
RoboCop, Rambo, Ghostbuster, BTTF, Batman The Movie
Commando

All classics. I'll probably think of a few more later :D

Ah, ARCHON! That's chess done right.. pieces that can actually fight! I loved the Basilisk..

There was a second Archon game as well.. wasn't as popular as the first but was pretty good too.

I'm by no means a packrat, but when I finally boxed up my old C64+, I just couldn't get rid of it. It has been sitting in my attic for over 12-15 years now, along with hundreds of 5.25s, two 5.25 drives and 1 3.5 drive. I pulled it down a few weekends ago an toyed around on it for a while. A few games didn't work anymore (attic heat exposure) but quite a few did...CA Games, Gunship, Pirates, Defender of the Crown...among to few I tried. I took me forever to remember how to load games w/ and w/o fastload. I still can't remember how to load a directory or how to load Ghosts & Goblins.

As a kind tribute to its hardiness and my fond memories for it...it is now stored in an interior closet away from the heat. It might just have to be my future childs first computer, as it was mine,

Anyone remember how to load a directory? I just had a thought that it might be something like: Load "$",8,1

Although I couldn't think of that when I had it out.

You won't believe how long it took remember Load "*",8,1

Any ideas where I can get some new joysticks that are compatible? The one I had kind of melted

For those that miss it...feel free to worship me :D

I used to have a 64...let me see what games I can remember playing (I was around 9) --

-curse of the azure bonds (D&D!)
-beachhead
-ghostbusters
-acheron (think it was called that, simple rpg)
-a world-war-1 combat flightsim. cant remember the name. very cool at the time.
-a world-war-2 submarine game
-an overhead shooter game, played kinda like contra
-olympic games
-some ladder-climbing game, "Squish 'em?"

other software-
-GEOS (graphic gui)

Used to have a bunch of disks...cant remember most of the games now.
