I'm skeptical that this thing is actually helpful, and kind of apprehensive that it might actually break something.... not sure how.

I'm talking about the process described here, for example:
    https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/sync-settings-windows-10
    or
    https://www.howtogeek.com/222110/understanding-the-new-sync-settings-in-windows-10/

So definitely the first 5 are basically useless for me. The only one that might be helpful is the last one, "other Windows settings". What does that entail? Does it capture things like customized Windows sounds, for example? (On the laptop I'm replacing I got annoyed with the default dings and changed most of the sounds at one point.)

I'm not sure if this thing will actually save me any appreciable time.. (I suspect no?)

    Save time?

Probably not- but it more or less works. I've used it for years. Basic stuff like backgrounds and themes transition over. Haven't paid much attention to it since it's basically the first thing I do when setting up a system.

Pretty much this. My wallpaper moves over and my onedrive account logs in. Thats about it as far as I can tell. I disabled it since I dont want my home wallpaper and settings on my work computer.

It also remembers your current theme and if you have dark mode. It does -not- remember stuff like accessibility settings.

I use it, it syncs your accounts, themes and preferences. It is helpful if you are going to use the same account across multiple systems. You don't have to change the settings for each system, just one and it can replicate the change depending on your sync options.

Boobs on work computer might indeed be frowned upon by politically correct people (which US seems to be full of).

I have to admit I was also a bit surprised when one customers CEO had a very attractive naked girl on her knees (from behind) as his desktop background. I had trouble locating the program icon that was located near the *ahem* critical area.
