Anyone here use Legato Networker on ZFS vols?

If so, do you export UFS vols for Networker, or just use ZFS native?

If ZFS, do you use gzip or dedupe on the vols?


I'm curious how other people do it, and why.

EMC is sort of the opposite of ZFS in many respects, but i don't know this Legato Networker really; can you describe what it is and does?

gzip compression is already supported in ZFS version 6 (the first ever imported into FreeBSD; which is what i use), but dedupe is ZFS v24 i believe, and is not yet stable.

Perhaps you should tell a bit more about the background situation; what are you trying to accomplish?

Networker is just backup software. It can work standalone, or you can do client/server backups.

I was just curious if anyone was using the two together.
Networker's DiskBackup options licenses based upon backup pool size so it would be interesting to see if the reduction in utilization would affect licensing.

I have Networker boxes but nothing I can blow up for fun.
