i picked up this mouse myself from frys....the mouse seems to be great but the software is jacked. I'm trying to set commands to buttons and they arent doing anything at all. nothing. i tried to set button 8 to a double click and nothing. the DPI is set to 5 levels and will only use 2, the lowest and the highest. seriously, wtf.

i'm having the same issues BUT when i switch profiles, nothing happens. when i try to swith up the DPI it opens a freaking firefox webpage. when i hit the DPI again, it opens a new tab within the webpage. this is in any profile, no matter what i set the buttons to. this is absolutely ridiculous. i seriously cant believe how jacked this software is. using win7 64bit, with the correct setpoint downloaded and installed. i'm literally laughing right now because i cant believe what i'm seeing. i have no idea what the deal is, but it reminds me why i havent bought a logitech mouse in a very long time until now.
This appears to be a problem for some (me included) with the G700 from reading the Logitech Forum. I had the same problem (Opening Webpage and buttons not working correctly) and solved it by removing and reinstalling the Setpoint software, resetting all profiles to default, and then reloading profiles to mouse.

Yeah, I got my issues sorted out (user error), but I'd try reinstalling SetPoint and resetting the mouse to defaults.
What I thought was kind of odd is that Logitech lists SetPoint 6.15.25 as the version to download for the G700, but when I check the version mine shows up as 5.40.39 (I haven't downloaded 5.40.41 yet, which supposedly fixes problems with small mouse movments at the cost of battery life, but I have no problems with the way the mouse performs now).

i did just as you said in that order, and still the same exact issues. i'm stumped. guess i'll have to check out the logitech forums or literally call them because this is pretty unacceptable for a 100 dollar mouse.
OK it seems i may have a bum mouse. it just will not assign commands to buttons no matter what i assign to them. even in the default profiles button 8 will not show the default battery status or assign to any command. will have to take it back and try a new one but this is really discouraging.

yes, absolutely. It's like the software isnt for the mouse even though its setpoint 615_X64 software. When I click apply, nothing changes with the buttons. I assigned button 8 to do a doubleclick but it STILL defaults to 'battery status' command. This is all through the dropdown menus in the software, no macros. It's unbelievably frustrating. Other than that, everything else about the mouse is fine. The tracking is stellar.
Like RIGHT NOW, i pressed button 4 that i have set up in a new profile that i have 'unassigned' in the software and it took me back a webpage. I'm absolutely livid, this mouse is freaking expensive. THIS is why i didnt order it online, if I cant get this resolved, it goes back, no worries and waiting and running to the post office to RMA it.

Battery life on this is a bit meh, but I see 2 fixes. One is it seems like Logi is still tweaking drivers, so it may improve, whether it's not using as much power or tweaking the readings, I dunno. And two is people changing the settings on their mice.

No. The mAh rating is merely a measurement of the amount of energy the battery can store.
i tried uninstalling, reinstalling, everything. it's like the buttons on the mouse dont even exist. how can logitech release a product without proper testing? seriously, i'm calling their customer support tomorrow. 13 buttons and no way to change commands. i'm literally saucer-eyed on how mind blowing this really is.
the logitech message boards just got a good hosing from me, i've never had any issues like this with such faulty software, and i've MADE SURE i've gone over every detail making sure i'm not being retarded in setting this mouse up.

Wouldn't hurt, the only mention about it is to not go below 1800. If I recall the advantages of Eneloops, it's that the hybrid batteries can be recharged a higher number of times and their biggest feature was very low loss when sitting around not being used. And since these batteries are obviously getting used a lot, I'd say you wouldn't have to stick with Eneloops, just find the biggest mAh you can.
I'm not considering this at the moment, but we'll see how the battery life goes.
Yeah, but they do work, I've changed several mappings on mine including the battery level button. Unless the place you got them from got a bad batch, I'd think it's SW. Only other thing that comes to mind is something weird with the USB port and the transmitter, try a different port/device? (if it's in a hub, move it to the computer or vice versa)

You don't need it faster than 250 for general use. I use the mouse in wired mode when surfing the net and wireless when gaming. This is to make sure the battery is fully charged before a gaming session. The too major issues are the battery and the stiff wire, but it's nothing to cry over.
it was frys electronics, but i find it hard to believe that all of them might be bad, they had quite a few there. I picked a totally random one stored way in the back this time.
The problems i'm having apply to newly created profiles. I can change the button config on any profile and no button commands change on any of them.

Have another PC you can try it on with a fresh install of SetPoint?
If that fails, time to give Logitech a call. They're very helpful IME...no use banging your head against the wall and not being able to use most of the mouse's features.

Yeah, I set it for 125 at first...then decided I have a fancy mouse so I wanted it higher.
If the battery life is still crappy today, I'll drop it to 125 for the next test.belive it or not i got it to work through macros - it just wont work through the presets in the dropdown menus, at least the doubleclick and close commands.
For those not happy with the battery life. Logitech have admitted that the LED's on the side are a guide to the amount of charge in the battery and not gospel. The real life of the battery is from full until the mouse no longer works. See how long that is. Some people have found that it shows min charge but they still have half the charge left. They may try to recalibrate like Apple did, with the signal bars, for IPhone 4, using software.
It is difficult to get a charge left reading from AA, etc rechargeables, because unlike alkalines that go from 1.5V to ~1v in the linear way as they discahrge, rechargeables stay at around 1.25v until they are just about to die....

Have finally placed an order with someone in the UK who is not price gouging. Have got the mouse for £75 delivered. So am just waiting for it to turn up so I can join the owners club. First Logitech device I have seen where the price on Logitech's own website is cheaper than others can supply the item....

Enloops are one of the new bread of batteries that keeps it's charge for a long time, so you can leave it in a device for months and it won't go flat on it's own, like normal rechargeables. This normally makes sense for wireless devices because as they use only a little of the charge at a time. Obviously the G700 being a G device is different. The enloops, etc type batteries capacity is lower than other rechargeables, it is only 2000 mah. If the battery is only lasting a day then it's charge keeping attribute is not needed. You could try some of the 2700 - 2800 mah batteries that are on the market. They have great capacity over a couple of days, but self discharge to flat over a month or two...
But it is good the mouse is designed so you can choose the battery. The older Logitech wirless mouse I have takes two AA batteries to work (heavy)....

Can someone with one of these tell me if it makes the same noise as the mx518? Terrible high pitched noise that was driving me crazy so I just ordered one of these. Hopefully it doesn't do this same. This mouse looks nice and has received gobs of praise. I hope it will do nicely =]

Could you please put the G700 laser sensor close to your ear and listen to any noise?
Please, also try it with the usb cord, just to make sure if it's also silent.
I have a G500 and they make high frequency noise, I can hear it at arm lenght distance. If I put the mouse near my ear, the sound is loud and easy to hear.
I would buy the G700 just to get rid of this noise.
Having the same problem of "cursor moving upwards when mouse moved to the right".
When I move to left, it is totally straight but when I move it to right, it just goes up, like someone else mention at page 8.

I had this problem for a little bit (after updating graphics drivers for some reason) and it went away completely when I did the following:
UNcheck "Use OS native drivers"
Check "Enable angle snapping"
For me the cursor would not only rise up when moving to the right, but also reduce input sensitivity (by a LOT) when the cursor was in the bottom left corner of the screen. But it all went away with the above settings.
Imagine the scaner sensor a square, if the square vertical is not at 90 degres with the horizontal movement line, the mouse thinks it's moving up or down.
Make this test, rotate the mouse at 45 degrees left (like this \) and move it horizontal to the right, de cursor goes in 45º line down.
Think about it, if the square is not vertical, the mouse will think the movement is up or down depending in inclination, there's no other way for it to detect movement.

I can hear a high pitched noise holding the mouse within 1 inch of my ear, and I can't hear anything with the cord connected.
Since the G700 is also battery powered, you could hit the off switch at night.

Just got mine, first wireless. It's awesome but it's going to take some getting used to. While my G9 has the whine my G700 does not.
It's quiet. I have a treated room (very low noise floor) and I can't hear this mouse. The mx518 drove me crazy. I think RIGHT next to your ear there is the smallest sound, but nothing you can hear when the mouse is more than an inch away.

I hear a slight high pitched whine, with the mouse next to my ear, as soon as I plug in the USB to charge the mouse. The whine goes away after a few seconds. No noise at all when the mouse is in the wireless mode.

I'm impressed so far after playing BC2 for a while last night. Gonna try WoW tonight which was my main reason for wanting so many buttons.

Not sure this is really much of a major problem, but have noticed that when moving the mouse at very high speed the mouse tracks a little bit at 90 degrees to the direction you are moving the mouse....
Got a new mouse pad today and was testing it for any tracking issues with my new G700. Just for a laugh, and to see if I could overcome the sensor tracking speed. I turned the mouse down to 800 DPI and just moved the mouse from side to side very quickly. Making sure to stop the cursor before it hit's either end of the screen. This at the desktop, not in any games or anything.
So of course the cursor moves side to side very quickly. But as you do the side to side motion the cursor as well as going side to side also moves down the screen slowly. At first I though it was obviously because my hand was moving the mouse down the pad. But I tested further and the mouse had stayed at the same height on the pad through the whole test. In fact at that low DPI, I would have had to have accidental moved my mouse the whole way down the pad, to get the same behavior.
I also tested with my old mouse mat and my G500, plugged into a different computer and on both mats. The behavior was the same with both mice and pads. I have had a G9x, a G500 and now the G700 and have never had a problem with the tracking. So I don't think it is a major problem but is just interesting.
So please could others give it a try. I would love to know if this effects others. To test set your mouse to a low DPI and the mouse speed down so you have to move across the a lot of your mouse pad to move the cursor the whole way across your screen and then move the mouse side to side really, really quickly. See if the cursor stays at the same height on the screen or if like mine it moves down the screen. Let me know if you get the same behavior or no tracking oddity.
Oh, also Up and Down very quickly, the cursor moves left across the screen...

I don't not have any of these problems with the mouse moving up when I move to the right or anything like that. I think you guys are just holding the mouse at and angle or something weird because the sensor is so far forward on the bottom.
