I have a Seagate 4tb external usb hard drive hooked up to my wireless router. When I access it, it is labeled be509c23509be087. Any way to rename it to something like Music Collection? Thanks

That probably depends on your router.

I formatted it on my PC so what is the router reading to get this number? It does change with each format...

no idea where itd get that name from but I agree that you should check the router. login and look in the usb section to see if you can rename it.

Then you are probably out of luck. I now think the number is a partial GUID for the drive's partition or filesystem being that it is hexadecimal and you say it changes when you reformat.

How are you accessing it? If you map it as a network drive you can name it whatever you want.
