I have a MacBook with the Intel X3100 integrated graphics (not the older GMA950) and I was wondering if there's any way to improve the graphics performance. I was using my parents' old iMac G4 and I noticed that graphics effects (ie dock, dashboard, Expose) were much smoother even on that machine than on my MacBook. I don't use this machine for gaming; however, I've heard somewhat decent things about the X3100 compared to other integrated graphics. I would think that it would be at least comparable to the low-end graphics chip (either Geforce 2 MX or Geforce 4 MX) in the iMac.

Is there anything that I might be able to do to improve the graphics performance on my MacBook? any advice appreciated, thanks!

It will not be comparable because to a GF4 MX since those have dedicated RAM and the 3100 is sharing system RAM which is very slow by comparison.

No idea about a GF2 MX, thats too old for me to remember
