Any way to connect to AOL without their software?

I am forced to use AOL dial-up at work. Is there any way I can connect without having to use their software?

I can connect fine... and it works 'ok'... then about 45 minutes later, the internet slows down until it just completely stops. So I have to 'sign off' or close down AOL. Well, sometimes this can take up to a couple minutes! Its a serious PITA. Any help is much appreciated!

you're basically out of luck. Some efforts have been made on the linux side of things to connect to aol via linux, but not much has ever come from it. So you are SOL
