Any reason to buy a 2070 super from a board maker instead of Nvidia directly?

They seem to be in stock at Nvidia, but harder to locate a specific card in stock otherwise.

Any reason not to get a card directly from Nvidia? It would be a bit cheaper that way as well. I have no idea about an Nvidia RMA process though.

Thermals, lower overclocking potential (power limit), and 0db fan mode are lacking on reference cards.
You are wrong on the first two, give you the last point though. I have one in possession and does 2050-2100 easy and +1000 on memory. Has +20% power. Temps are low 70s highest.

I built a new machine for my niece the parts finished arriving today, case is coming on Wednesday. I got the Zotac 2070 super, I haven't had a Zotac card since I think a 8800 GTX, I have a 980 ti to throw in there if it's a disaster. It was $499 shipped on B&H. edit, it seems it's OOS https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1491519-REG/zotac_zt_t20710f_10p_gaming_geforce_rtx_2070.html

Also it seems nobody has mentioned some folks do not like blower coolers on their graphics cards re. reference or AIB.

Somewhat occluded is a dh15: IMG_20190818_205200.jpg

That is higher than any official review has gotten an FE 2070 Super card to maintain. And it depends on how you are actually getting those clocks as so many people around here will claim an oc that is not even remotely capable of being held under full gpu load in the most demanding games. Bottom line is that every reputable review site shows that most AIB cards can maintain a higher average boost when oced over the FE when oced and run cooler and quieter to boot.

Ran 40 minutes of furmark with the OC settings. obviously clocks are going to be lower in furmark but ratio is the same. But +150 on core and +1000 on memory was stable in furmark.

I know nothing about using furmark but if you can maintain those claimed speeds in the most demanding gaming scenarios under full load then you have the most magical FE 2070 Super I have ever seen. No offense but I would take the results from all the reputable sites more seriously than a single user.

not sure why you think its magical. Have you read 2070 super FE reviews? Most have reported getting +150 on core. It has +20% on power that allows for 260w. Depending on your ambient and core temp you can easily sustain above 2ghz on the core.

Have you? Maybe you need to pay closer attention as I am talking about the actual clocks they can maintain when ocing not some peak clock. NO review is able to keep "2050-2100 easily" like you are claiming.

In fact here are the overclocking results:

techpowerup: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvida-geforce-rtx-2070-super/32.html

and +150 MHz to the GPU's base clock, which increases average GPU clock from 1879 MHz to 1964

techspot: https://www.techspot.com/review/1865-geforce-rtx-super/

but after about 5 minutes began throttling down and by the end of the hour sustained 1980 MHz which is a mere 5% overclock

Like i said nvidia cards tend to lower boost clocks as the temps go higher. Its not related to power or chip Its strictly temp related. So if your ambient is higher your card is likely going to boost less. So its not magical. Never questioned the OC portion, but I question when you say I have a magical card lol. OP can easily tweak the fan settings and maintain higher boost clocks if his ambient is higher. Its nothing magical.

Are you playing the obtuse card? You said it does "2050-2100 easily" which makes it sound like you could maintain those speeds under load. If you can then yes your card is most certainly magical as not a single reputable review site can maintain even 2000 mhz. Heck not a single review could even hit 2050 mhz for a peak...

yea dude come over I will show you my boost clocks lol. I say boost clocks can be maintained depending on temps? You can easily read up on how nvidia cards maintain boost relative to temps.

when did I say I am not getting those clocks? I have the card manually tweaked to +150 core and that is what i am getting. My temp is in the 60s during games. IDK may be I have a great airflow, I know my ambient is lower. My card starts out at 2100 and lowest I see is 2050. That is not too fart fetched from 1984 TPU got.

Lol I know exactly how boost works and what effects it and it is 100% irrelevant to the context here unless you think all review sites are idiots and test in a very hot room. The POINT is that the clocks you are claiming to maintain are higher than any review. Again not a single review can even hit a peak of 2050 and none can even maintain 2000 yet you are claiming to "easily get 2050-2100". So YES that makes your card magical compared to another tested from any reputable site. But maybe it is your airflow that is magical now? lol

Bottom line is that what pippenainteasy said is correct which is that good AIB cards run cooler and quieter and do have higher oc potential. I say good as I am sure there are some AIB blower cards which of course will be worse in every metric.

sounds like you are saying I am bullshitting? Would you like to see a screenshot of peak clocks for my card?

A screenshot of what? Firing up a game at who knows what res and settings and taking a pic? I can do that myself and show much higher clocks than what my card can maintain under full load after several minutes of playing a very demanding game at 4k.

lol you are sounding like a troll. You said none of them even got a peak clock of 2050, so I can show you a peak clock of 2100 you are going to call me a lier? Come over lets have a beer and I can show you the peak clocks and average clocks. Running fire strike below. I am not a lier I said already it starts at 2100, and seen it dip after but always stays above 2k. So whats there for me to lie about? You just sound silly calling it magical like i am lying here. Common man, grow up!

How is your gpu at only 47 C?

because I started the benchmark to show you peak clocks. You said no one got them so I was thinking magical clocks. lol. what can I say its magical temp as well.

So you ramped up the fans speed before starting the bench to make the gpu as cool as possible and then take a screenshot right after starting.

And no review is stupid enough to do that and then report the peak clock in the very beginning like that. Considering the FE runs in the low 70s on stock fan curve once you are actually playing a game then yes it is BS what you have been claiming.

you are accusing so hard right now its a joke. You think temps jump 20c from idle few seconds in to benchmark? lol. I added two more screenshots for you in that folder, check it out. Temps in the 60s and boost clock at 2055 this is on the tenth run of fire strike ultra stress test.

Now to the main point you said no reviewer even got a peak clock close to mine, the peak clock was starting the bench few seconds in. Temp doesn't ramp up that fast man common! lol.

You can't come back now and start making it about fan speed. Can you go read my comment above where I said boost and temp are relative. So now its the fan speeed? first it was me lying out of my ass because that peak clock wasn't possible? Hmmm. which one is it.

So ambient temp play no role in temps? and how case airflow matters? So all FE are suppose to run in the low 70s is not a hard line. What if my ambient is 5c lower? and I have 3 fans blowing ambient air in?

I can't believe so hard for you to admit my card is getting those clocks. It just sounds silly. I am over it. Chao!

Because of course no reviewer is going to have the card running at 47 C and look at the peak clock right when starting a bench. But yes your card is certainly running faster than any other review as shown. Your "2050-2100 easily" claim was BS and you know it as again no one looks at the peak clock when thier gpu is only 47 C and just launching a benchmark.

The only thing that is joke here is your nonsense that 2050-2100 is an easy oc to maintain on the FE 2070 Super and using said BS to argue that the good AIB cards would not be a better choice for potentially higher OC as well as better temps and lower fan noise.

Haha never said AIB cards were shit. You made that up again. Keep going.

Jesus! I already explained to you the frickin 47c temp, it was at the beginning of the benchmark. How ignorant are you exactly? So you expect temp to jump to 60+c 5 seconds in to benchmark? Common! Its not a damn chiller, its just the benchmark starting. I have screenshots of it running at 66c in the same folder with boost clock at 2055.

Anyways. I will go enjoy my magical card now. I gotta just choose to ignore the accusations here. Never thought me explaining my experience would turn in to bunch of accusations and name calling.

Hey lets agree to disagree and move on. Hope OP finds the card he is looking for.

All I gotta say is whether OP goes with this or AIB card it is not going to be earth shattering OC. As far as RMA and warranty goes. Nvidia chat has been really good to me during any support I have ever needed from them. Much better and quicker response time than AIB.

I bought a Vive VR headset which was supplied by the same people that NVidia use to ship their gfx cards, Digital River .
When I found my Vive was tough to use, I needed to return it but got no useful response from them.
After a protracted effort to contact Digital River, my bank took over and contacted them directly by standard mail and still got no response.
I was eventually given a full refund by my bank because they had no success.
If you cannot get the same service from your bank, I suggest you avoid dealing direct with NVidia.

nvidia has direct chat now that is fairly responsive. You can't compare the two, so can't apply digital river for one product to nvidia is what I mean. Nvidia has direct support for RMA and returns. Doing a return is as easy as submitting request below and selecting return.
