Anyone out there seen any decent material about how to overclock an i7 860? I tried a few things and actually got into windows at 4.2 (200bclock x 21@ 1.4 volts temps were idle 40C) but had some sever stability issues. at 4.0 (20blockx 200@ 1.4 volts) I got into windows and I could see some massive Vdroop with LLC turned on caused a blue screen or 2. I tried turning it off and the Vdroop mostly went away, but running prime or OCCT caused the temps to jump from 40 to 90. So I stoped the test right away. I tried 199 x 20 for 3980 to see if the 33 mhz inc would be any better but OCCT stops because of errors on the cores which means its far from stable. When overlocked the ram is running at 1950 mhz @ 8 8 8 27 instead of 8 8 8 26. Anyhow for now I have set it back to stock with turbo boost enabled.
idle it runs at the 3.4ghz @ 1.17 volts and I see temps ranging from 28 to 32C across all 4 cores. Any hints tips and suggestions are welcome. All system and spec info is in the sig.
