Any amazing deals $150-200 range?

Yeah but I dont count mail in rebates. Youve got a 50/50 chance of actually getting it back and you still have to fork out the money at the time of purchase.

Meh this Sapphire for 215 involves a large MIR too...

$150 GTX460 1GB if you can find.
$190-$200 GTX 470 if you can find.
$215 5870

6850/6870 have been overpriced lately. Pricing seemed decent around release but have slowly crept upward. I prefer the 6870 between the two. IIRC the order from slower to faster is 6850 - 5850 - 6870 - 5870. Don't be fooled by the naming scheme and assume the 6870 is the 5870's replacement.

Overall I think a 460 1gb could suit my needs until I build a new machine, but the 460 I was considering is sold out, so either I grab the 5870 and spend $65 more or wait for another 460 deal.

At $215, the 5870 is the best card on the market dollar for dollar. Overclock it and itll max out any game at 1920x1200! Hell itll pretty much do that at stock clocks. Not gonna beat that for $215 or even $245 (assuming you dont get the rebate).

The GTX470 comes the closest but at the end of the day its still the slower card and the cheapest one out there is $230 so thats a $15 premium that is worth it in my opinion.

For folks in CA and a decent 470 GTX deal: $220 shipped and no tax to CA.

Only concern would be the heat of a 470 vs a 5870, 68xx or 460. Stay away for the 460SE they are slower than the 460 768mb except where you need 1GB of memory (e.g. AvP2). The 5870 for $215 looks like a good deal, but a tad more expensive if you live in CA. Doing 1920x1080 and wanted a bit more performance than what the 460 1GB or OC'ed 6850 provided. Well worth paying $35-40 more. Then I can OC or go dual GPU later if it ever get too slow.

I never had issues with MIRs, just fill them out right and you're fine

Really? I would have assumed the 6850 was faster than the 5850. Hmm maybe I need to rethink my card choice of the 6850.

It was a strange move on their part, no doubt.

Indeed...but the new cards are just barely cheaper. I'm trying to decide between a 5770 and 6850 just based on cost and power consumption / heat produced, and it is rather tempting to make the jump even at this early stage.

They came out at nice pricepoints, but the prices continue to creep upwards.

You can still complain. =]

Sounds good to me ;)
Personally I'm going to hold off on the purchase. I know I can always get a 5850 or 5770 and those prices certainly aren't going up. I wont be building until mid-december and hopefully by then the 6850 price tag will be on it's way back down *fingers crossed*

The 6850 is a much stronger card

So that's why we'll buy nvidia until they stop :p

460 1GB??

And at $190 it's a steal...I just hope it's that price or lower when I go to buy it in a few weeks

Ehh...I'm not sure. The 460's are on par price-wise with the 6850's. I don't think the added power consumption, heat output, and price jump between the 5770 and the 460 is worth it. But that's just my personal opinion. I also like the no-brain-required triple monitor setup with eyefinity, but to be fair I've never tried Nvidia's approach.

There have been multiple deals on the 470 over the past few weeks for 190-199. This has been the hottest deal until this 215 dollar 5870 showed up and then its about even, depending which color you prefer. Both are great deals and will get the job done in style for 1920 and below.

They are discontinuing the GTX 470 for GTX 570 hence the sale.

Yeah the 6850 is a bit overpriced, but it's alot better than the 5770 and although it's the 5770's intended replacement...it's hard to compare them.

The 460 1GB is costs less than the 6850 and uses a little more power but not much more. It's up to you but I think you get more bang for your buck with the 460 1GB

I'll poke around and see if I can find one with a good cooler on it and that's short enough to fit in my case (Lian Li V352 w/ front mounted radiator). Any experience doing triple monitors not of the same size on that chip?
