Any 16-Port Web Managed Gigabit Switch without fan (0dB noise), and support 802.3ad Link Aggregation, Loop Protection for STP?

HP Procurve is a decent place to start for inexpensive managed switches.

Dell's PowerConnect should fit the bill. I have a 2716 and it's web-managed, supports 802.3ad etc., and is dead-silent. Cheap on eBay, too.

Dell Powerconnect 2616, 2716, 2816 all support those features.

On the flip side HP Procurve 1810G-24 would also be good.

Procurve 1810 is silent and quite a decent switch

Yeah, the more I read in to that switch the more I like it. Think that's going to be my decision for my VMware lab. The Dell 2716 is cheap, but slow...it seems.

I've got a 1800-24g at home and it's a solid switch, I'm not sure of all the differences between the 1810 but it looks like the 1800 is quite a bit cheaper on ebay.

The 1810G is just an updated version of the 1800. Also the 1810G has jumbo frames OOTB where as the 1800 requires a frimware update. Other then that they are pretty much the same.

Does the HP 1810 Loop Protection = Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) on other switch?

From what I've seen the 1800 doesn't do Jumbo Frames and Flow Control at the same time, which is what you want if you use these for some things like iSCSI.

My 1800-24g lets me enable jumbo frames and flow control simultaneously.

Ordered an 1810G-24 today... $304. Not bad at all.

And as soon as I get the shipping notice I find a 1800G-24 in my lab at work sitting in a box. :) Oh well..I was going to order an 1810G-8 for my desk so I'll use the 1800.

Ha, that sucks, I was going to mention that I got my 1800 for $100, but I figured I'd just let you be happy with your purchase, but now that it's too late for that...

So the 1800 has a fan? Just looked at mine and it does..it's not loud, but it's not silent either. I was going to use it by my desk but now I won't. I need silent there. Maybe I can find someone to swap me a 1810G-8. :)

What fan? The HP 1800 series definitely does not have one.

Aha! There are two versions. Mine is a J9028A. The last 1800-24G was a J9028B. The B has no fan. The A does. Wonder if I can just disconnect that? :) Worst case is I kill it...was free anyway.

That's odd. Datasheet says no fan. I wouldn't disconnect it though. Why waste that lifetime warranty?

Data sheet for the B rev says no fan. The A rev doesn't talk about accoustics.

Because I don't care if it dies. If someone wants a 24-port 1800 let me know. Happy to trade it for a cheaper 1810G-8 for my desk.

I also just ordered an 1810G-24 for my SOHO + HT + rest of house network.
A couple of higher-res photos I found of it online.
