I used to run only Antec PSU in my builds back in the early '00s, but then there was betterer competition from several other vendors, including Seasonic, upon which this PSU is based. Now the Edge PSUs look worthy, based on a couple of reviews. [H] gave it a silver award last month, so yeah, good stuff.
Looking to give my mom a wonderful Mini ITX build as an upgrade to complete her studies. Antec's PSU this size and modular would be the perfect fit. Plus she likes red.
I need to retire my Antec Earthwatts from 2007 currently powering a rig!
That thing never let me down, and it sat outside in a storage shed, in Hawaii, so high humidity and heat. I pulled it out, set it in a basic rig and it still works!
I even had it running an overclocked 8120, and dual 7850s (I know, stupid, and ill never will do that again) well the 7 year old power supply ran the rig, then one day it simply couldnt.
I guess thats just capacitor aging.... well, anyways that thing still isn't dead, as it will happily power a simple backup rig at home
So, after many years of abuse, high humidity and heat, me drawing way more power than the PSU can supply, finally that rusted, grey piece of steel, that is currently resting at my feet, and has refused to give up the ghost can be ceremoniously retired and replaced with another Antec unit. It seems so right......
Love the perforated cage, huge fan for great airflow and quiet operation, modular cable design, and most important of all is a name you can trust. Antec Edge 550W sign me up!
I have used a few Antec products for some time now as well as recommended them to friends and family of mine. With respect to their power supplies, I have used their Earthwatts 380W, Basiq 500W, and HCG 750W. All of them are still chugging along to this day. I assume the EDGE 550W will last just as long if not longer plus being modular and the most quiet. It would be perfect for a mini-ITX or micro-ATX gaming PC for the gamer who prefers a desktop over a laptop every day of the week.
My 14+ year old IBM PC 365 (dual Pentium Pro Overdrive) would think kindly of me if I was to swap out it's old 50 Plus rated PSU for something a lot more efficient, quieter and orangier!!
I'm already running an Antec EarthWatts EA-650 GREEN with one of my system builds. However, it isn't modular so the inside of my case isn't very pretty. Switching it out with the Antec EDGE 550W Power Supply would definitely make my system look a lot cleaner. Thanks!
I've always been a fan of Antec. They are always my go-to PSU and I trust them and recommend them frequently. They still go strong with multi-rail, even though many have ditched it these days.
I am building an enclosed PC in a desk drawer for my son and this PSU would be perfect to round out that build! Power and efficiency will be important and a modular power supply is a must. Fingers crossed. =D
For me main benefit of runnig an Antec PSU in my system is that it's not overprcied like many other brands. I can get the same features and pay less, and maybe save for a new graphics card. Thanks to Antec for being honest with their customers.
I don't want it in my system as it's too weak for it, but I'd put it in my HTPC/ROUTER/NAS/SERVER because it's fully modular. Which is great for cable management. Funny thing is this psu costs almost the same as my 1000W. I always thought Antec products are overpriced, but this one at 0.00 is not among them.
Other than the fact I've never had an Antec PSU fail on me, how about because clean consistent power to your components let's them run more efficiently as well as extend their life much better than shit PSU's with power spikes.
