Announcing DirectX Ray Tracing

If I am reading the article correctly, this might benefit AMD cards more than Nvidia due to being compute driven, but since Nvidia is pushing it, they may have a trick up their sleeves or just consumer Volta being more compute driven since it is moving in that direction as well.

From what I've been reading it seems like its geared towards consumer Volta.

It's geared towards specific hardware on new cards, for now. The compute shader stuff is a fallback that all DX12 cards will support, though less worse performing.
