What’s the big deal here? Well, AMD revealed substantial Radeon stuff at the last Capsaicin Event, so many are assuming they have something interesting to drop at this year’s occasion as well. Particularly, will we be seeing a grand unveil of Vega? We’ll find out on the last day of the month, as the event unfolds at the Ruby Skye theater (whatever happened to the Radeon mascot, anyway?).

…AMD will be hosting their new Capsaicin event during the Game Developers Conference on February 28. During GDC 2016, AMD hosted their first Capsaicin event where we got to see the Radeon Pro Duo and a bigger tease of Polaris 10 before its release a few months later. But what should we expect from Capsaicin this year? Well, I expect a larger tease of Vega - in fact, I'd really enjoy a massive unveiling of Vega at Capsaicin. You'll be able to tune into the Capsaicin livestream, which will begin at 10:30AM on February 28, which AMD teases as a "feature-packed show highlighting the hottest new graphics and VR technologies propelling the games industry forward".

Help us AMD, you are our last hope againts evil Nvidia!

On a serious note, lets hope that they have some great news about Vega, like a launch date or prices.

From my understanding this is all about the release of Ryzen. Maybe a hint or two about Vega but it's all about their new CPU.

So maybe, "Help us AMD, you are our only hope against Intel" :)

At this point, I'm fine with just, "Help!"

Why in they fuck do the name a gaming event after the technical name for a food/medical ingredient?

I'm excited about announcements, but don't bore me to tears with stupid event names.

Not so much an ingredient as it is a component.
Capsaicin is the awesome stuff that makes a pepper, hot.

However, I had the same question.

Exactly.

You search for "Capsaicin" in Google, the top-ten links, ignoring Top Stories and the usual Wikipedia, are all medical. No, I'm not making shit up, here they are:

This was a stupid-as-fuck name for an event when they used it to tease Polaris last year, and it's still a stupid-as-fuck name for an event now to tease Vega.

Is AMD shipping a salve for Arthritis, or a salve for poor frame rates, or a salve for my bored taste buds? NO FUCKING CLUE! Maybe AMD's marketing could take a lesson from how the rest of the company is runnign itself, and maybe come up with a better name for an event than something old people love?
