A lot of us don't like phones/tablets because they have tiny screens and crappy input devices. I also don't need to be carrying a phone/tablet everywhere I go. I use a tablet if I'm flying somewhere and use a phone as a phone and not as an access method to social media platforms. Does that put me in the 1%?
It still leaves you in the 99% because your compute needs don't demand something beyond what handheld devices offer even though you'd prefer a larger display. You could just plug your phone/tablet into and external monitor and then you'd be good to go. It's quite likely that the external screen is lower resolution than the phone, so that's actually less computationally intensive than just driving the built in screen.

Overkill for 99% of us, as most desktop apps simply cannot use >64 threads.

holy crap, with the Threadripper 3990X on Clear Linux I managed to build the x86_64 default Linux kernel in under 20 seconds!
