AMD Ryzen 9 3950X Hits 4.3 GHz On All 16 Cores With Water Cooling

That is surprising and good news for people that waited and hoped these would clock better.

Those are some nice CB numbers. At stock, it looks to beat a 9990xe, which is where an overclocked 10940xe should land.
Overclocked, it is similar to a stick 2970wx.

I can get 3379 on R15 with my 3900x at 4.4Ghz all core and 1.375v. Not 3950 good of course. I am going to see if I can go higher to 4.5 now.

I'm just happy they are waiting to build up supply before releasing.

The 3950x is so niche
At 800 I'd say it's a better proposition to get a 24 core threadripper 3 when they drop which will probably be about 895.

AMD is doing an awkward pricing setup as far as history would indicate from past pricing structure.

I don't see TR3 starting below $1000 this generation, or at least not by much. The 24 core Threadripper will likely be more than a match for the 10980XE in HEDT workloads, so I would expect them to price it accordingly.

Yeah, I expect price symmetry here.

6 fast cores for $250
8 fast cores for $330 - $400
12 fast cores for $500
16 fast cores for $750
24 fast cores for $1000

And so on and so forth.

Makes sense. And since the chiplets are driving the cost, probably, it makes sense from that perspective too.
